Das Imprägnierungsmittel besteht aus 15 his 5o Teilen einer hydrolysiarbaren
Titanverbnndung der Formel Ti(OR)4 oder einem aliphatisohen kohlenwasserstofflöslichen;
partiiellen Hydrodysat davon, wobei R ein, aliphaitischer Kohlenwasserstoffrest
mit weniger als 13 C-Atomen oder ein hydroxylgruppenhaItiger aliphatischer Kohlenwasserstoffrest
mit weniger als 13 C-Atomen und weniger als q. Hydroxylgruppen ist; 5 his
7o Teilen eines Methylpodysilo@xanh:arzes, das. Trimethylsiloxan- und S" 02 Einheiten
in, solcher Menge enthält, daß das Verhältnis der Methylreste zu den
Sil1C!ItlMatOmen r : s bis 2,5 : r beträgt, und 15 bis
8o Teilen eines Palysiloxans der allgemeinen.
Formel R', Si O , worin R' ein Alkyl- oder
Alkylenrest mit weniger als q. C-Atomen. oder ein
monocyalischer Arylrest ist und n einen, durch-
schnittlichen Wert von 2 his 2,9, hat.
Es kann insbesondere zum Imprägnierexi belie-
biger Lederarten, die in; verschiedenster Weise ge-
gerbt sind, verwendet «irden. Es spielt auch. keine
Rodle, ob das. Leder appretiert oder nicht appre-
tiert ist.
Mit dem erfindungsgemäßen. Maiteriad imprä-
gniertes Leder erreicht eine 5- bis r5ofach ver-
besserte Wasserundurchlässigkeit gegenüber Leder,
das; mit bekannten Imprägnierungsm.itteln imprä-
gniert ist.
Das Imprägnierungsmittel kann durch Bürsten.
oder Tauchen: auf Lederteile oder Lederartikel, wie
Schuhe, Gürtel usw., aufgebracht werden. Das
ImprägnieTungsmittel kann, auch als lös.ungsmi.ttel-
fre!ie Paste, gegebenenfalls, mit Zusatz von" PoilieT-
mitteln, oder, als, Lösung verwendet werden.
In wirtschaftlicher Hinsicht ist es oft zweck-
mäßig, Lösungen des Imprägnierungs.mittels in
Stoffen, die das Leder nicht angreifen, zu verwen-
den. Als Lösungsmittel können z. B. nicht aroma,-
tische Lösungsmittel, wie Petroleumderivate, ver-
wendet werden. Aue, zeichnete Ergebnisse werden
erzielt, wenn man das Leder mit i bis 3o Gewichts-
prozent des Imprägnierungsmittels (berechnet
auf das Gewicht des Leders) imprägniert. Eine
Imprägnierung mit größeren Mengen ist gewöhn-
lich nicht erforderlich, obwohl auch ausgezeichnete
Ergebnisse erzielt werden. können, wenn. man mit
Mengen biss zu 50°/o imprägniert. Leder mit einem
Gehalt von 2 bis 25 Gewichtsprozent der erfin-
dungsgemäßen Mischung ergibt gute Ergebnisse,
am besten ist es jedoch, das Leder mit io bis 2o Ge-
wichtsprozent des wasserabstoßenden Imprägnie-
rungsmittels zu imprägnieren. Das. Leder kann, um
den gewünschten Grad der Imprägnierung zu er-
reichen, öfter mit dem Mittel beehandelt werden,
eine zweimalige Behandlung mit einer 15o/oigen
Lösung ist jedoieh gewöhnlich ausreichend.
Das für die Mischung verwendete harz.a;rtige
Methylpoilysilo@xancopolymerisat, bestehend aus
Trimethylsiloxan- und S,i 02 Einheiten, kann durch
Cohyd-ro,lyse von (C H3) 3 SiX und S' X4 hergestellt
sein, wobei X ein hydrolysierbareTRest ist. Dabei
müssen die Silane in solchen Mengen verwendet
werden, daß da.s: gewünschte CH. : Si-Verhältnis
i : i bis 2,5 : i beträgt. Besonders zweckmäßig
sind harzartige Copolymere mit einem. Verhältnis
von Methyl zu Silicium von i : i bis 1,5 : i.
Man, kann auch das Copolymere durch Um-
setzung von (C H3) 3S2 Cl, (C H3) 3S." O C2"5 oder
(C H3) 3S.i O Si (C H3) 3 mit einem sauren Ki,esel-
säuresol herstellen.. Die obigen Copolymere sind in
organischen Lösungsmitteln leicht; di:specgäeTb@ar
oder löslich.
Die für die Mischung verwendeten Titanverbin-
dungen sind Ester d'er allgemeinen Formel
Ti (O R) 4, worin R ein aliphaatis!cher- Kob,len!wasser-
stoffrest mit weniger als 13 C-Atomen oder ein.
hydroxylgruppemha,ltigeT aliphahischer Kohlen-
wasserstoffrest mit weniger als 13 C-Atomen und
weniger als; 4 O H-Resten ist, bzw. partiell hydroe-
lysierte Ti(OR)4 Verbindungen, die im wesent-
lichem: in aliphatischen Kohlenwasserstofflösungs-
mi;tteiln löslich sind. So können Titanester, wie,
Tetramethyltitanat, Tetraäthyltitanat, Tetradecyl-
titanat, Octylenglykolylltitanat,Tetra-(2-ät'hylhexyl) -
titanat, Tetradodecyltiitanat, Tetraisopropyltitanat
oder Mischungen. davon verwendet werden. Titan-
ester, worin R verschiedene Reste bedeutet, sind
ebenfalls, brauchbar. Z-,veckrn:äß!i'g sollen die
R-Gruppen mindestens 3 C-Atome enthalten. Diese
Ester werden gewöhnlich durch Esteraustausch
eines Titanesters., wie! Tetramethylti:tanat, mit
einem höheresiedenden Alkohol, hergestellt, z. B.
wird Octylenglyleoeltitaniait durch Umsetzung von
Octylenglyko.l mit Tetramethyltitanat im MalveT-
hältn:is von 4 : i hergestellt. .
Der dritte Bestandteil des Imprägnderungsmittels
ist ein Organopolysiloxan der allgemeinen Formel
R',nSio worin R' ein Alkyl- oder Alkylenrest mit
weniger als 4 C-Atomen oder ein monocyclischer
Arylrest ist und n einen durchschnittlichen Wert
von 2 .bis. 2,9 hat. Dieser Stoff wiTd in Mengen von
15 bis 85 Gewichtsprozent der Gesamtmenge ver-
wendet. Besonders geeignete S.iloxane sind z. B.
Dimethylpo@lyssloxane, Vinylmethylsiloxan, Phenyl-
äthylsiloxan, Dipropyleseiloxan" Methylxenylsiloxan
oder deren Mischungen. Auch: Copolymere solcher
Diorganosiloxane mit Triorganosiloxanen, wie
Trimethylsiloxan, Phmyldimethylsiloxan usw.,
können, verwendet werden. Spuren von Mono-
organos.iloxaneinhe!i:ten, können; in diesen. Siloxanen
vorhanden sein, jedoch, soll der n-Wert in dem an-
gegebenen Bereich Liegen.
Diese Organosiloxane sind benzollösliche Stoffe,
deren Viskois,ität zwischen dünnen Flüssigkeiten
und verfoTmb-aren Feststoffen variiert. Im all-
gemeinen werden zweckmäßig flüssige Poilymere,
deren Viskosität bei 25`°` zwischen 5 und
ioo ooo cSt Liegen kann, wie z. B. Methylpoly-
siloxane, verwendet.
Die obigen Komponenten. können in einer der
üblichen Mischvorrichtungen; in lösungsmi.ttel-
freiem Zustand; vermischt werden. Es ist jedoch
zweckmäßiger, beim Vermischen Lösungsmittel zu
verwenden, die nach dem Vermischen sofort ge-
brauchsfertige Lösungen ergeben. Der Kompo-
sitionsmischung können geeignete Politurwachse
und Farbstoffe beigemengt werden. Als Lösungs-
mittel können: solche verwendet -,werden., die auf
Leder keinerlei schädigende Wirkung ausüben und
die: Verbindunigen zu äi.spergieren vermögen.
Aus.führungsheispiele
i. Ein Lederstück der Größe io - io,9 cm und
einer Dicke! von 1,25 bis, 1,5 man wurde durch Ein-
tauchen in das. in einer Petroleumfraktion (Siede-
punkt 153 bio i93°) gelöste ImpTägnierungsmittel
dex Tabelle I imprägniert. Die Proben wurden
30 Sekunden eingetaucht, dann 16. Stunden an deT
Luft getrocknet, noch, einmal 30 Sekunden ein-
getaucht und wieder 16, Stunden an der Luft g'e-
trocluni#t. Die Menge dies. Imprägnierungs.mittels
(bezeichnet als Prozent Aufnahme), berechnet auf
das Gewicht des. Leders., wuTde durch den Gewichts-
unterschied festgestellt. Alle imprägnierten Proben
wurden in einer Vorrichtung für Biegeversuche
mit 72 Biegungen pro Minute zur Fests:tell.ung der
Wassserundu:rchlässgkeät von ObeAedeer in der
Weise geprüft, daß die Anzahl der Biegungen, die
bis zum Erscheinen des- ersten Wassertropfens not-
wendig waren, festgestellt wurden. Die in der
Tabelle I aufgeführten Mischungen wurden aus den
folgenden Stoffen A, B und C hergestellt. A war
ein Me:thy lpo!lys@ilo@xancopo,lymeri,sa@t, bestehend, aus
(C H3) 3Si O- und S40.-Einheiten mit einem
C H.: Si-Ver'hältnis von 1,2: 1; B war ein Methyl-
po:lysiloxan, bestehend aus 97 Molprozent (CH3),-
Si O- und 3 Motlp,roiz,ent (C H3)3Si 0"2-Einheiten.;
C war Tetrabutyltitanut.
Das Mischen erfolgte durch Lösen der Kompo-
nenten. in der Petroleumfraktion unter Einstellen
der Lösung auf einen. Ges.amtfests.toffgehalt von
15 Gewichtsprozent.

wasserabstoßende Wirkung der erfindungsgemäß verwendeten Mischung hewiesen. Die
schlechten. Imprägnierungsergehnisse, die durch das. Verwenden einzelner Komponenten,
der Mischungen erhalten werden, ergehen, sich aus den Versuchen mit den. Mischungen.
i bis 3. Die Versuche mit den Mischungen 14, 15 und. 16 zeigen die waisseirab,-stoßenden
Eigenschaften., die durch Verwendung von, binä,ren. Mischungen AB, BC und AC erhalten
werden. Nicht imprägnierte Lederproben weisen einen, Ersten-Tropfen-Wert von etwa

Die obigen Titan.verbindungen sind handelsübliche Flüssigkeiten., die in. Petroleumderivaten
löslich sind. Sie wurden durch Umsetzung von i Mol Tetramethyl- oder Teitraäthyltitanat
mit 4 Mol 2-Äthylhexamod, 2-Äthylhexandioi-i,3 bzw. Isopropanol erhalten. 3. Wird
Leder entsprechend; Beispiel i mit einer Mischung aus gleichen Gewichtsteilen der
Verbindungen, A und B von; Beispiel i und Tetramethylti.ta#nat oder Tetra,do@de:cyltitanat
imprägniert, so, erhält es ausgezeichnete- wasserabstoßende Eigenschaften.
q.. Wenn Leder mit Mischungen, die gleiche Gc-
wichtsteile derr Verbindungen A und C und Phenyl-
methylsiloxan- oder Äthylvinylsiloxanäl von
ioo aSt enthalten, gemäß Beisspiel i imprägniert
wird, so zeigt das Leder ausgezeichnete Ergebnisse
in bezug auf Was.serundurrhläs.sigl# mit.
5. Ähnliche Ergebnisse werden erzielt, wenn ein
Titanester, wie Ti (O CH. CH2 CH. CH.= CH2)4
(hergestellt durch Umsetzung von Tetramethyl-
titanat mit ß-AJlyläthylalkohol), an, Stelle von
Tetrabutyltitanat in denn Mü:schungen von Beispiel. i
verwendet wird.
