Dabei ist es bekannt, Kunststoffknöpfe mit einer Farbschicht zu überziehen oder Farbpigmente in den Kunststoff zu integrieren, damit dieser eine entsprechende Färbung aufweist. Farbige Überzüge halten jedoch oft den bei vielfachem Gebrauch des Gegenstands auftretenden Kräften nicht genügend stand und blättern ab. Überraschenderweise hat sich gezeigt, daß trotz ungleichmäßiger Verteilung von Farbpigmenten im Kunststoff der Gebrauchsgegenstand auch bei starken Beanspruchungen nicht so leicht an auch dünnen Stellen bricht, wenn die Bedingungen des Anspruchs 1 eingehalten werden. Dabei ist TPE die bekannte Abkürzung für thermoplastische Elastomere oder auch "Elastoplaste" genannt, wozu auch thermoplastische Kautschuke zählen.
