Description
Beschreibung Sturzhelm, insbesondere für RadsportDescription Crash helmet, especially for cycling
It is known that crash helmets can have inlet and outlet openings. Since the space between the helmet shell and the head is not sealed, the air that has entered can escape diffusely. There is no guarantee that the air will pass over the head evenly. There are designs with channels for the air flow (GIRO AERO HEAD, SPORTRAD 1991 No. 3 page 61). The outlet openings on other helmets are often positioned in such a way that the formation of turbulence begins before the flow has reached the outlets, which means that the negative pressure drops and ventilation is inhibited (US Pat. 4,996,724).
The ventilation components are often aerodynamically unfavourable.
Problemproblem
The invention specified in claim 1 is based on the problem of developing a crash helmet that provides ventilation with sufficient amounts of air and evenly cools the head. The pressure conditions on the outer shell of the helmet should be observed or influenced in such a way that the pressure distribution supports ventilation. The aim is for the aerodynamics to be good even with sufficient ventilation.
The invention provides good ventilation with improved aerodynamics.
The tear-off edge and trip edge ensure advantageous pressure distribution and the outlet opening and neck cover ensure the desired flow of cooling air between the helmet shell and the head.
Ein Ausführungsbeispiel wird anhand Figur 1 bis 5 erläutert. Es zeigenAn embodiment is explained using Figures 1 to 5. They show

The air can enter through the pockets (5) and the space between the head and helmet.
The boundary layer of the air mass flow changes from laminar to turbulent when it reaches the stumbling edge (1). The turbulent boundary layer remains for longer and only swirls when it reaches the separation edge (2) (see flow pattern Fig. 5). If the air is swirled with the vent openings (4) before it reaches the separation edge, air would be mixed in, there would be a decrease in the negative pressure; ventilation would be hindered.
The tear-off edge, which is formed tangentially to the helmet, dampens the decrease in speed of the air flowing around it, thus maintaining the negative pressure.
The geometry of the tear-off edge allows the exhaust air to enter parallel to the conveying air flow of the surrounding air in its rear, vertical part.
The neck cover (3), Fig. 4, closes the large opening on the rear underside of the helmet. This forces the air to flow over the head after entering the ventilation openings. In the example shown, the neck cover is made of open-pore foam and is attached with Velcro.
