Zur Messung von Frequenzen im Gebiet der Zentimeter- und Dezimeterwellen sind Hohlraumfrequenzmesser bekannt, die darauf beruhen, daß ein Hohlraum, meist mit rundem oder rechteckigem Querschnitt, mittels eines verschiebbaren Kolbens in seiner Längsrichtung geändert wird, und zwar so lange, bis seine Eigenschwingung mit der Frequenz des zu untersuchenden Senders übereinstimmt. Diese Frequenzmesser haben den Nachteil, daß sie nicht eindeutig sind, sondern bei vorgegebener Sendefrequenz entsprechend den theoretisch möglichen Eigen resonanzen an mehreren Stellen einen Ausschlag ergeben. Praktisch tritt neben der sogenannten H11-Anregung, die ausgenutzt wird, meist die E0t-Anregung als Störur.g auf.
