Mit Regalsystemen unterschiedlichster Konstruktion und Bauweise und für jeden beliebigen Zweck ist der Normalbürger vertraut. Stand-, Wand- und fahrbare Regale dienen z.B. als Kleinteile- bzw. Ersatzteile- Lagerung für Montage, Werkstatt, Labor, Arztpraxis, Verkaufs- und Hobbyräume. In der Industrie werden Regalsysteme wie Großfachregale, Schwerlast-Großfachregale, Palettenregale, Faßregale oder Reifenregale im Rahmen der Lagerhaltung universell eingesetzt. Spezielle Lagerregale gibt es für die Lagerung von Metallblechen, Profilhölzern, Leitern, Paneelen und Rohr- und Stabmaterialien. In öffentlichen Gebäuden finden sich Büro- und Archivregale zur Archivierung von Akten und Büchern.
