Beschreibung:Description:

The invention relates to an arrangement for transmitting high-frequency signals according to the preamble of claim 1. It is known to convert such transmission frequency ranges into a common electrical signal using electrical addition and filter arrangements. It is also known to transmit this common electrical signal after electro-optical conversion via optical fibers. However, the signals can only be fed to the adder over longer distances using optical means according to the current state of technology. The optical signal must be converted back into an electrical signal before it reaches the adder.

The invention was therefore based on the object of designing an optoelectronic transmission in such a way that the expenditure on optoelectronic components is reduced.

The state of the art is shown in Figure 1 and an embodiment of the invention in Figure 3. The frequency ranges F1 and F2 are converted into the optical signals 0S1 and 0S2 by an electro-optical converter 1 and 2 respectively and are converted back into electrical signals by the opto-electrical converters 7 and 8 via the optical waveguides LWL1 and LWL2, as shown in Figure 1. The electrical signals, for example F1 with 47 to 230 MHz and F2 with 230 - 600 MHz, are combined in the adder 4 to form a sum signal F. This signal F is converted into an optical signal 0S3 (by the electro-optical converter 9) and transmitted over a long range via the optical waveguide 5. At the end of the transmission path, the signal F is finally restored as an electrical sum signal by the opto-electrical converter 6.

91/05 2 Ml/st 03.09.199191/05 2 ml/h 03.09.1991

In the case of transmission according to the invention, which is shown in Figure 2, the optical signals 0S1 and 0S2 are fed to the passive optical coupler 3, which combines the two signals into a common optical signal 0S3. The optical waveguide 5 then contains the common optical information. After passing through the transmission path 5, the optical sum signals are converted into the electrical sum signal by an electro-optical converter 6. This signal F is fed into local broadband distribution networks, for example. If you have to bridge longer distances with electrical signals, you need intermediate amplifiers from 500 m, which are very expensive. The arrangement according to the invention has the advantage that you can send signals to an adder, which usually performs the function of a transmitter and can combine optical signals directly and feed them into a long-distance cable without intermediate amplifiers and without multiple conversion.
