Description

The invention relates to a device for fastening the housing of a furniture lock to a furniture part, in particular a door or flap.

It is common practice to attach furniture locks to the inside surface of a piece of furniture, such as a door or flap, by screwing them. Since locks are often dismantled and are transported dismantled, there is a risk that the locks will scratch the surface if they rest on another piece of furniture. In addition, the lock housing has a certain height, which affects its height when doors, flaps or the like are stacked. This applies in particular to furniture production. In addition, when assembling furniture and assigning it to certain rooms, it is often desirable to exchange locks or assign them in such a way that several doors can be operated with one key.

The invention is based on the object of proposing a device for fastening a furniture lock, in which a quick assembly of the housing of the furniture lock, which has the parts required for locking and a lower stacking height can be achieved for doors that are to be stored or transported in stacks.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that the housing can be latched onto a plate that can be separately attached to the furniture part using latching means.

The advantage of this design is that a low stacking height is achieved, since the plate with the locking means only protrudes slightly above the inner surface of the door or flap to which the lock is to be attached. When installing the lock or the housing of the furniture lock, no special alignment work needs to be carried out. The lock can simply be inserted so that it is locked via the locking means. This means that it can be replaced and installed quickly.

In a further embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the locking means associated with the plate are designed as lockable pockets into which tabs attached to the housing engage.

This results in a particularly simple design. In addition, conventional lock housings can be used, which already have tabs that are normally used to attach the housing to the furniture part with screws, as they have the mounting holes.

To secure the housing, the plate is provided with one or more spring-loaded locking lugs that engage behind a locking surface on the housing. The locking surface is preferably part of one of the limiting surfaces of the tabs. If it is a lock for a ward key, it is possible to design the housing with its locking means so that it can be pushed into the plate. However, if the housing is provided with a locking cylinder that can be led out through a hole in the furniture part to its front surface, the invention proposes designing the housing with its locking means so that it can be pivoted into the plate. For this purpose, the locking means of the plate, which are designed as pockets, are preferably arranged so that

that they open in opposite directions. First, the housing is mounted together with the locking cylinder in a position that is pivoted by about 90° from the normal position by inserting the locking cylinder into the hole in the furniture part. The housing is then pivoted so that the tabs are moved into the pockets.

A further simplification is achieved by the fact that the plate simultaneously forms the cover plate of the housing of the furniture lock. To simplify the fixing of the plate, it is provided with protruding retaining pins that can be pressed into corresponding fixing holes in the furniture.

Preferably, the plate is designed as a plastic injection-molded part, especially made of polyamide. This has the additional advantage that when the plate is placed on another door in a stack, the surfaces cannot be scratched.

Figure 1 shows the plate 1, which in its basic form is essentially adapted to that of the housing 15, as can be seen from Figures 5 to 7. Two projections 3 protrude upwards and downwards from the plate 1. In the area of these projections 3, two retaining pins 2 protrude from one surface of the plate 1 that faces the inner surface of the furniture part. The two retaining pins 2 are formed in one piece with the plate 1, which is designed as a plastic injection-molded part. The retaining pins 2 are approximately fir-tree-shaped in cross section.

The housing 15 of the furniture lock, which can be seen in Figures 5 to 7, has tabs 16 arranged in correspondence with the lugs 3. These tabs 16 are at least partially received in the pockets 4. When they are swung in, they pass the locking lugs 5, which, since they are designed to be springy, can give way and then, when the tabs 16 are received in the pockets 4 and are in their correct assembly position, they protrude again and are prevented from turning back by placing the locking surface 17 of the tabs 16 against the locking surfaces 6 of the locking lugs 5, as can be seen in Figure 4. Figure 6 shows the lock in its assembled form in a furniture part. It can be seen that the retaining pins 2 of the plate 1 are received in fastening holes 14 of the furniture part 9, which is designed as a door. The plate 1 is assigned to the inner surface 10 of the door 9. A hole 12 is also provided through which a locking cylinder 13, which is assigned to the housing 15, can be guided to the front surface 11. The assembly is carried out in such a way that the housing 15 is first brought closer to the inner surface 10 with the locking cylinder 13 in a position which is pivoted by 90° to that shown in Figure 5 - in which the tabs 16 extend to the sides. The locking cylinder 13 is then inserted into the hole 12. The housing 15 is brought up to rest against the plate 1. The housing 15 is then pivoted anti-clockwise. The tabs 16 initially reach the area of the locking lugs 5 and push them backwards towards the inner surface 10. After further pivoting, the retaining tabs 16 are moved into the pockets 4 with part of their contour. After the locking surface 17 has also passed the locking lugs 5, these can spring back into their original position and lock the housing 15 against unintentional pivoting out.
