Device for preventing rail vehicles from derailing
It is known to prevent rail vehicles from derailing in bends
so-called guardrails or wheel guides between the tracks, namely at the in
the curvature of the inner rail, to be attached so as to enable rapid passage
the curvature causes the outer wheels to climb onto the outer arched rail
this prevents that now the flange of the inner wheel or wheels on the
Start guardrail and can be guided by it. This prevents
on the other hand, the outer wheel can climb up. Dangerous operating conditions
not only occur when passing through the curvature, but also
at the exit .from the curves and continuing into the straight line. The risk of derailment
is especially large when the transition arch, which has a gentle outlet from the arch
in the straight line should be kept short in length for spatial reasons
must become. Here the danger is no longer as in the curvature on the outer rail,
but the possibility of escaping and climbing over the rail is open
the inner rail of the track passed over. The one introduced in the previous curve
The rotary movement of the rail vehicle seeks to continue and can continue
at high speeds the front part of the rail vehicle in question,
z. B. the front part of a locomotive, against the inside edge of the inner rail
spin or let it start abruptly with very high pressure. You can still do this
other aggravating and the danger further increasing moments occur.
While
the ride through the curvature is caused by the centrifugal force and the axial transverse force
caused an increased load on the wheels running on the outer rail, which
thus a certain protection against derailing due to the increased load on the outer wheels
or climbing, whereas on the inner rail, the inner wheels are relieved
entry. Any braking carried out during this period is tightened
nor the turning of the rail vehicle, which has been initiated by the curve.
In the case of steam locomotives, another element of danger can arise, that is
the mass of water in the boiler. This is due to the centrifugal force as long as
the locomotive drives through the curve, after the outside of the curve, pushed and swiveled
when exiting the curve back or to the other side. The moment of danger
is additionally exerted abruptly on the inner rail edge by this
Enlarged print. These moments can work together in such a way that a derailment
on the inner rail, which at first .absurd: appears, because you are more likely to derail
. Expected on the outer rail in the arch, the result is what happens in an accident
has shown in practice.
For the reasons given, the invention provides a guardrail
on the inside of the outer rail at the end of the curve and a little further
to be arranged in the straight line in order to derail towards the inner rail
impede. This guardrail takes the rail vehicle through the curvature
forced rotation or the resulting force effects on and prevented
thus the derailment.
