Der obere Theil b³ von B kann entweder durch seine Verlängerung nach rechts oder links zu einem vollständigen Lager, für die Unterseite des Kinns ausgebildet oder, wie in der Zeichnung dargestellt, nach unten zu einer Schleife umgebogen werden. In letzterem, vortheilhafterem Falle besteht das Kinnlager oder die eigentliche Kinnstütze aus einem Stück E, z. B. von der durch die Fig. 1, 4 und 5 dargestellten Form. Dieses Stück ist durch die Ausnehmung e² mit einem Zapfen e¹ versehen, welcher in die Schleife b³ eingreift, während diese in e² eingesetzt wird. Vermöge dieser Anordnung kann, da die Schleife b³ eine gewisse Federung zuläfst, die Stütze E in jedem von dem Spieler gewünschten Winkel eingestellt werden, was einen sehr grofsen Vortheil bedeutet, besonders wenn der Spieler die linken Saiten seines Instrumentes vollkommen zu beherrschen wünscht, sowie auch beim Spielen der oberen Noten des Griffbretts. Es ist ersichtlich, dafs die Schleife b³ gegen den Theil B verdreht ist, und zwar in einem Winkel, welcher gröfser oder kleiner als in Fig. ι, 2 und 3 sein kann.
