"Lids for jars"

The invention relates to a lid for mugs, in particular for beer mugs. Beer mugs generally have standardized external dimensions and are available in various sizes, for example half a liter or one liter. These mugs are made, for example, from glass or ceramic mugs and generally do not have a lid.

The arrangement of lids on jugs is known in itself, but comparatively complex. Lids on jugs are therefore only arranged on comparatively expensive jugs. The

Lids are therefore not suitable for mass use, as can be expected at folk festivals or similar events.

However, it would be desirable if beer mugs were provided with a lid, _whether the mugs are to be used in a beer garden or at folk festivals, etc.

It is therefore an object of the invention to provide an arrangement which allows beer mugs to be provided with a lid.

To solve this problem, the invention proposes that a first hinge part is formed or attached to a lid and the first hinge part is connected to a second hinge part via a joint, and that the second hinge part has detachable fastening means for connection to the jug, in particular to the handle of the jug.

The invention makes it possible for the user to purchase an individual lid and to either place it on the jugs he uses or to remove it again. In this way, the lid is not exposed to the treatments used when cleaning the jug, and the lid cannot be damaged or lost during refilling, etc. There is also no risk of a jug being confused with a lid, etc.

The lid itself can have any design. For example, it can be made of tin, possibly with porcelain or other ceramic inserts. The lid itself can also have a different design, for example made of aluminum, plastic or other materials.

It is advantageous if the second hinge part of the lid according to the invention is designed as a clamp. The lid can be fixed to the handle of the jug using the clamp.

For example, it is provided that the second shade part essentially consists of two parts that can be connected to one another, and that a recess is provided between the parts that is adapted to the handle of the jug.

A joint connection between the two parts of the second hinge part is preferably oriented such that the axis of this joint connection is essentially perpendicular to the axis of the joint between the hinges. The two parts of the hinge can be secured, for example, by means of a screw connection.

In a variant of the invention, a spring element is provided which presses the two parts of the two hinge parts against each other. In this case, it is advantageous if an operating lever is provided with which the two parts of the

The jug 15 has, as is known per se, a handle 5. The second hinge part 2 is fixed in the upper area of the handle. In the embodiment in Fig. 1, this hinge part consists of a clamp-like element that encompasses the upper part of the handle with the two parts 6 and 7. Above the handle, the two parts 6 and 7 can be connected by a joint, but it is also possible to design the parts 6 and 7 in such a way that they are sufficiently deformable without a special joint being provided. Below the handle 5, for example, a screw connection 12 is provided, which presses the lower ends of the parts 6 and 7 against each other.

The screw connection 12 can also be replaced by other fastening means, for example snap fasteners, bow fasteners or similar means.

The second hinge part 2 has the joint 4 at its upper end, via which it is connected to the first hinge part 1. On the first hinge part 1 there is a lever 16, by means of which the first hinge part 1 can be pivoted about the joint 4 and the lid can be lifted. The first hinge part 1 carries the actual lid 3, which is adapted to the opening of the jug 15.

In the variant according to Fig. 2, the two parts 6 and 7 are connected to each other by the joint 9. The two parts 6

a spring 13, which presses with one end on part 6 and with its other end rests against part 7. The spring is dimensioned in such a way that parts 6 and 7 are held securely on the handle 5. The clamp consisting of parts 6 and 7 can be opened using the operating lever 14 on part 6. Part 7 carries the first hinge part 1 in the joint 4, which has a design as shown in Fig. 1.
