In: most DC systems have short-circuit protection
a pure overcurrent measurement by adding the line section to be protected
flowing current measured at the ends of the line and, if the current strength is a certain
Amount, a shutdown is brought about. By special additional
Measures can be achieved that the shutdown is only selective in each case
for the section in which the fault is located. The overcurrent measurement
but does not allow a perfect detection of short-circuit cases: more if the
Short-circuit current becomes equal to or less than the highest possible operating current. That
may very well be the case with long lines. So would 'with bilateral
Feeding of the line according to Fig. R the short-circuit currents depending on the location of the fault location
result according to the curves il, i2, where il is the one from the left, i2 the one from the right
, represents the short-circuit current flowing to the fault location. For a point of failure
at a, the short-circuit current i2 would then only be a fraction of the short-circuit current
il make up. A consumer connected to a could possibly
have to absorb a current during operation that is greater than i2 wind. Through the ohmic
Resistance of the line can therefore be idie if the fault location is appropriate
Short-circuit currents over one end of the line or over both a limitation

As a result, the overcurrent protection is set to detect all short-circuit cases

Shutdown could occur. The difficulties in this regard
cannot be eliminated by using the quotient instead of the overcurrent

Kurzschlußstelle in .deren Nähe der Quotient i : u
The aim of the invention is to achieve a correct detection of short circuits on the protected line despite these conditions. For this purpose, measuring points are no longer simply arranged at the ends of the line, but a plurality of measuring points recording the ratio of current to voltage (%: u) are distributed over the length of the line, with: the number of these measuring points being the ratio between the smallest short-circuit current and the is adapted to the highest operating current, but is at least 3. Since the breakdown of the voltage at the short-circuit point in the vicinity of the quotient i: u assumes very large values, it can always be achieved in this way that neighboring measuring points respond as a result of the short-circuit. For this it is only necessary, through the appropriate number and distribution: of the measuring points, to ensure that at least one of these is always in sufficient proximity to the short-circuit point. The measuring points are designed in such a way that each of them can cause the line to be switched off when a fault is detected. For this purpose, for example, they are all connected via an auxiliary line to the triggering devices of the switches or any other control devices, through which the power supply for: the protected line is shut off.
bei a: auftritt.
An exemplary embodiment is illustrated in FIG. 2. It is assumed that there is a line fed from both ends and that an error occurs at a :. Four measuring points o, i, 2, 3 are distributed over the length of the line. The current and voltage ratios along the disturbed line can be seen in the lower part of the figure, as is the course of the quotient i: 2i. The short-circuit current il is then smaller than: the short-circuit current i2 and the associated voltages u1, u2 drop to zero after the short-circuit point. For: the quotients il: u1 and i2 : u2, there is a rapid increase towards the value co when approaching the short-circuit point. The higher a measuring point of the short-circuit point is, the greater is the value i: u measured by it. This measuring point then causes, for example, a contact that is transmitted to the feed stations via a common auxiliary line indicated by dashed lines. By making contact, the switches can be triggered there, for example, or the feeding rectifiers can be influenced by grid control - or both.
