Hinge for picture frame

The innovation concerns a hinge for picture frames with a support base, in which two hinge flaps are connected to one another at the abutting edges via a hinge joint which is formed from rollers through which a hinge wire passes, and each has claw-like eyelets for fastening one to a rear picture cover and the other to the support base.

A hinge of the aforementioned type is known from US-PS 28 11. In the known hinge, the angle limitation that is necessary for setting up the picture frame with the help of the support foot is determined by stops that are designed as axial projections on the rollers of one hinge flap and as adapted axial recesses in the rollers of the other hinge flap. These stops cannot withstand greater loads, such as can easily arise if the picture frame is set up incorrectly, but rather bend. The sheet metal cut for the hinge flaps is also unnecessarily complicated.

This is where the innovation aims to remedy the situation. The innovation is based on the task of creating a hinge for the

mentioned type in such a way that it is stabilized without additional effort. According to the innovation, this task is solved by the rollers of one hinge flap having stops along the entire length of the rollers, against which the other hinge flap strikes when the picture frame is set up.

With the innovation, the entire length of the roller is available as a connection on one hinge flap. The counterpart is the other hinge flap.

The hinges for picture frames chosen as examples have two hinge flaps 1 and 2. The hinge flap 1 is attached to a rear picture cover 3 of the picture frame; the hinge flap 2 to a support foot 4 of the picture frame. At the abutting edges, the hinge flaps 1, 2 are designed as rollers 11, 21. The rollers 11, 21 form a hinge roller 5. The hinge roller 5 is penetrated by a hinge wire 6. The hinge roller 5 forms a hinge joint with the hinge wire 6. At a distance from the rollers 11, 21, claw-like eyelets 12, 22 are provided on each hinge flap 1, 2. The eyelets 12 of one hinge flap 1 are used to attach it to the picture cover 3; using the eyelets 22 on the other hinge flap 2, attach it to the support foot 4.

The rollers of one hinge flap, in the embodiment the rollers 11 of the hinge flap 1, have stops 13. The other hinge flap 2 hits the stops 13 when the picture frame is set up. In this way, the angle of spread between the picture cover 3 and thus the picture frame and the standing foot 4 is limited. In the embodiments, the hinge connected to the picture cover 3

1 rolls 11 are mounted on the hinge wire 6, which are bent at an angle around the hinge wire 6 that is less than 360°. In the embodiment in which the angle between the picture cover 3 and the support foot 4 is to be approximately 45°, the angle through which the rolls 11 are rolled is approximately 315°. The free edge of the rolls forms the stops 13 for the hinge tab connected to the support foot 4.

In the embodiment shown in Figure 1, the rollers 11 of one hinge flap 1 engage like a comb with the rollers 21 of the other hinge flap 2. The rollers 11, 21 alternately follow one another in the axial direction of the hinge wire and are directly penetrated by it.

In the embodiment shown in Figure 2, the rollers 11 of one hinge flap 1 overlap the rollers 21 of the other hinge flap 2. Here, the hinge wire 6 passes directly through rollers 21. The roller 11, which in this embodiment is designed as a continuous roller running along the entire edge of the hinge flap 1, encompasses the rollers 21. The rollers 21 are spaced apart from one another in the axial direction. Gaps are created between the rollers 21. Beads *4 exr:, which are incorporated into the continuous roller 11, engage in the gaps. The continuous roller 11 with the beads 14 additionally stabilizes the hinge.

In Figure 3, the hinge tabs 1, 2 are partially combined and the rollers 11, 21 on the front sides with hinge tabs and rollers of other hinges to form a band-shaped workpiece 7. The combination can also be carried out only via one of the hinge tabs 1 or 2 and also only via the rollers 11, 21. The workpiece is then fed to a stop machine, where the

Claims (6)

Protection claims 1. Hinge for picture frames with a support base, in which two hinge flaps are connected to one another at the abutting edges via a hinge joint which is formed from rollers through which a hinge wire passes, and each has a claw-like eyelet for fastening one to a rear picture cover and the other to the support base, characterized in that the rollers (11) of one hinge flap (1) have stops (13) over the entire length of the rollers, against which the other hinge flap (2) strikes when the picture frame is set up. 2. Hinge according to claim 1, characterized in that the hinge flap (1) connected to the picture cover (3) has rollers (11) which are bent around the hinge wire (6) by an angle of less than 360° and whose free edges form the stop C5 3) for the hinge flap (2) connected to the support foot (4). 3. Hinge according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the rollers (11) of one hinge tab (1) engage in the rollers (21) of the other hinge tab (2) in a comb-like manner. 4. Hinge according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the rollers (11) of one hinge flap (1) overlap the rollers (21) of the other hinge flap (2). 5.
