Die Erfindung betrifft ein UltraschalIschweißgerät zum kontinuierlichen Verschweißen einander überlappender Abdichtungsbahnen, wobei zwischen die sich überlappenden Bahnenränder ein keilförmiges Werkzeug gegen die Schweißflächen wirkt, das sich hin- und hergehend bewegt und mit den Schweißflächen zumindestens intermittierend reibungsschlüssige Berührung hat. Das UltraschalIschweißgerät entspricht im wesentlichen Aufbau den bekannten HeizkeiIschweißgeräten. Bei HeizkeiIschweißgeräten überträgt der Heizkeil Wärme auf die Schweißflächen. Das geschieht, indem die Schweißflächen der miteinander zu verschweißenden Bahnenränder an dem Keizkeil entlang geführt werden. Dabei plastifizieren die Schweißflachen. Nach Verlassen des Heizkeiles gelangen die Bahnenränder in den Spalt eines Andruckrollenpaares.
