This innovation makes it possible to carry a ruler in a collapsed state (Fig. 2) comfortably in an inside or outside pocket for reading the length of distances.

Furthermore, since the tubular sliding links increase from 4-9 mm (with 7 links) or 4-10 mm (with 8 links) - Fig. 4 -, hole diameters can be determined quickly, e.g. for dowel holes, drill holes, etc.

The measurements taken can be noted using a ballpoint pen refill located in the narrowest link.

Ruler with telescopically insertable sliding elements and markings on them for direct reading of the length of distances, characterized in that the tubular sliding elements (7 or 8) are flattened on one side and are graduated in their respective outer diameters (4-9 mm or 4-10 mm) in the form of a predetermined series of dimensions. 2. Scale according to claim 1, characterized in that a ballpoint pen refill with a protruding tip is inserted into the innermost, narrowest member.
