The invention relates to a bite indicator that uses a liquid switch to indicate to the angler in the dark that a fish has bitten by a light signal. Several devices for fishing in the dark are already known. The most commonly used are, for example, the bell or the continuous light, which are attached to the tip of the fishing rod. There are also electrical signal transmitters with a buzzing sound and indicators that are connected directly to the fishing line.

The disadvantages of the aforementioned devices, for example with the bells, are that if several fishing rods are laid out in the dark, it is not possible to immediately identify the fishing rod that is giving the signal, especially since the process from the bite to the fight to the landing of the fish takes a certain amount of time and the bell rings during this process, thus disturbing the desired fishing peace and quiet due to the ringing.

The lights remain constantly switched on after they have been attached to the tip of the rod, so that the battery consumption is relatively high. In addition, a subtle bite can often no longer be registered in the dark, as the constant lighting requires too much concentration.

With the acoustic signaling devices, the device is connected directly to the fishing line, which has the disadvantage that when the fishing line is being released, tangles can form which get caught in the signaling device's hook, thus preventing the line from being released properly. With the other indicators, as they are also connected to the line, the same danger exists as with the devices mentioned above.

The advantage of this invention is that, for example, when catching eels, which mainly takes place in the dark, a silent, responsive and precisely adjustable bite indicator has been created.

The task was solved by attaching a light signal transmitter to the tip of the fishing rod using a liquid switch, which can be rotated variably even when attached. This rotation allows the finest adjustment to be achieved, whereby the slightest vibration of the fishing rod tip is signaled by a flashing light.

Fig. 1 shows a fishing rod tip (3) on which the bite indicator (1) with the fastening clip (2) is shown.

Fig. 2 shows the complete bite indicator in longitudinal section. The sleeve (4) contains a liquid switch (9), an LED (10), a resistor (β), 2 batteries (7), a screw cap (5) containing a compression spring, a fastening clip (2) and the rotating fastening (11).

The fastening clip (2) is attached to the tip of the fishing rod (3). The bite indicator (1) is then adjusted so that the liquid (6) does not come into contact with the contact (12). When the tip of the fishing rod (3) vibrates, the liquid (ö) moves to the contact (12) and thus closes the circuit and causes the LED (IO) to light up.

When the vibration has stopped, the liquid (6) bends back to its original position, which means that the circuit is interrupted and the LED (10) goes out. By turning the swivel joint (11) upwards, the liquid (6) moves further away from the contact (12), so that even stronger vibrations, e.g. caused by wind and current, can be compensated. By unscrewing the cap (5), the positive contact moves away and the bite indicator is switched off.
