The invention relates to a device for temporarily opening a magazine hive populated by bees on the underside of a frame.

In beekeeping, magazine hives are often used. They consist of a base onto which one or more frames are placed as required, with the top frame being closed with a lid. The frames are primarily used to hold the frames for the honeycombs. To carry out maintenance work, it is occasionally necessary to open the magazine hive at the bottom of a frame. For example, at a time when the bee colony is at its highest stage of development in the year, the beekeeper must carry out work on the brood nest. During this phase, depending on the flow and the operating method, four or more frames are stacked on top of each other, of which the top ones are usually the heaviest. Since then, the frames, which can reach weights of around 25 kilograms, have been lifted down one by one. If the magazine hives are also placed on raised benches to avoid ground clearance, then in addition to the weight to be lifted, there is also an unfavorable lever to deal with. It is almost impossible to work in a way that is bee-friendly and free from vibrations when attempting to gently put on or take down a frame weighing 25 kg. A second person may be required.

The innovation is based on the task of creating a lifting device for lifting individual or multiple frames of a magazine hive for bees, with which the opening of a magazine hive at the bottom of a frame can be carried out easily, reliably and without excessive physical exertion in one operation by one person with all the frames above.

When opened, it should be possible to insert the beekeeping equipment required by the new regulations, release frames that need to be worked on, insert extension frames or remove excess frames.

According to the new regulations, after the beekeeper has finished working on the bee colony, the magazine hive should also be able to be closed without any significant expenditure of force.

This task is solved in a similar way by connecting a lifting piston to a lifting transmission system, which is equipped with vertically adjustable fittings that fit neatly into the recessed grips of the frames to be lifted.

The lifting device for lifting individual or multiple frames of a magazine hive consists of two lifting pistons (2) arranged in mirror images of each other with a lifting transmission frame (3), each of which is screwed onto a board (1). The length of the board (1) is adapted to at least the length of one frame side. For simple applications, such as releasing frames to be worked on, inserting and removing flat beekeeping equipment and cleaning the floors and the areas underneath, a lifting height of at least 10 cm is sufficient. Other applications require lifting devices in accordance with the new design with a lifting height that is greater than the height of a frame of the magazine hive to be opened. According to the new design, the lifting height is set at least 3/100 m above the height of the individual frames (12 - 16).
