Zweckmäßig ist es, an einer Schneckenspindel hintereinander mehrere Abschnitte mit Schneckengängen verschiedener Ganghöhe und gegebenenfalls Gangtiefe anzuordnen und zwischen diesen Abschnitten einen kleinen Abstand vorzusehen, in dem Stauflächen an der Innenwand des Schneckengehäuses angebracht sind. Die Stauflächen können in den einzelnen Unterbrechungen an verschiedener Stelle des Gehäuseumfangs sitzen, so daß sie gegeneinander versetzt sind. Zweckmäßig sind diese Stauflächen um ihre Achse drehbar angeordnet, so daß sie sich verstellen lassen, und mit einer Vorrichtung versehen, die es ermöglicht, sie in jeder Stellung festzusetzen.
