Kohlenwasserstoffen keine technisch verwertbaren Produkte herstellen.
Process for the preparation of condensation products According to the information
the literature can be obtained by condensation of a mixture of phenols and aromatic
Hydrocarbons do not manufacture any technically usable products. Rather, it means
that black, tarry, insoluble and infusible products were obtained.
It has now been made the surprising finding that when acting
from formaldehyde to: mixtures of alkyl-substituted aromatic hydrocarbons
with such aromatic hydroxyl compounds in the o- and / or p-position to
Hydroxyl group are substituted by hydrocarbon radicals, but at least
one of these three positions (namely two o-positions and one p-position) is unsubstituted
should be readily soluble or in the presence of acidic catalysts without difficulty
oily or easily meltable reaction products can be obtained. Even at
Application of excess alkylated aromatic hydrocarbons occurs
flawless mixed condensation. As alkylated aromatics are primarily
Toluene, xylene and tetrahydronaphthalene, etc. called. As aromatic hydroxyl compounds
butyl and amylphenols, p-oxydiphenyl and o-p-benzylphenol mixtures may be mentioned.
The reaction products available are partly capable of the same applications as
the pure alkylphenol-formaldehyde resins. As a result of the condensation of alkylated
Aromatics are characterized by their lower price, increased water and alkali resistance
etc. off.
The mixed condensates of the type mentioned are of particular interest
too, for the production of which excess formaldehyde was used. The so
available
Reaction products contain reactive oxygen in the form of ether groups
or methylol groups acetalized with formaldehyde. They are therefore very reactive
and can subsequent condensation with a wide variety of components
be subjected. For example, you can post-condense with phenols, phenol carboxylic acids,
Alcohols and sulfamides.
evakuiert. Finally, it is of course also possible to use additional reactive compounds during the joint condensation of alkyl aromatics and alkyl phenols. EXAMPLE 1 108o g of xylene, 108o g of p-tert-butylphenol, 3200 g of formaldehyde (300%) and 10 g of sulfuric acid (60 ° B6) are heated to 118 ° for 6 hours in a closed autoclave with vigorous stirring. The aqueous sulfuric acid is separated off, the condensation product is diluted with benzene and filtered through soda and fuller's earth. After the solvent has evaporated, a small amount of uncondensed xylene is distilled off and the residue is evacuated to 170 ° at 12 mm.
