Description
Process for the production of shell-shaped or polyhedron-shaped objects, especially lampshades or lighting fixtures, by spiral winding one wire or rod-shaped material It is known to use lighting fittings to produce spiral winding of a glass rod, creating a body of revolution is formed, the surface of which is similar to a lenticular screen. It was intended a favorable optical effect due to the refraction of the light in the armature formed lens grid, which effect but so far only at the expense has significant disadvantages in connection with the manufacture of such fittings can be achieved. The most significant of these disadvantages is due to the fact that a glass rod to be spirally wound up to a temperature must be heated close to the melting point of the glass, and great care must be taken must be shown during winding to avoid breaking the glass rod, or that there are irregularities or defects in the finished article, e.g. B. by the stresses generated during the cooling of the material. The production such glass fittings will. therefore extremely cumbersome, time-consuming and expensive.
In contrast, the present invention aims at a fast, cheap and efficient manufacture of shell or poy leather-shaped objects., especially lampshades or lighting fixtures, by spiral winding one To enable wire or rod-shaped material, and according to the invention this is achieved in that the object by winding one or more wires made of a material that is flexible in the cold state and is adapted to the finished object, Template is made, being known per se during or after winding Way a binding agent is applied to hold the wire windings together, z. B. an adhesive or a solvent for the wire material.
The method according to the invention, inter alia. achieved that the Shape of the manufactured objects within very wide limits through use can be varied as desired using suitable templates. It is further achieved that the production is simplified and cheaper by winding z. B. in the Way can be done that the template is clamped in a lathe or a winding machine will. Such winding can be done by clumsy people.
In addition to the very significant manufacturing advantages that the method according to the invention can be achieved, the method enables that lampshades can be made by using entirely or partially translucent wire material similar lenticular structure as in the previously known glass fittings directly can produce, with the passage of light through the screen material a diffusion arises that prevents glare.
According to the invention, the wires used for winding can be made from a homogeneous material, e.g. Celluloid, cellulose acetate, or an acrylic acid derivative of the kind used for the production of plastic or elastic molded materials, exist.
In order to avoid that the binding agent through the wound on the stencil Material should penetrate and adhere to the surface of the stencil, can according to the invention use a wire with such a cross-section that the contact or junctions of the wire turns outside the surface of the template come to rest.
According to the invention, the cross section can be circular or elliptical.
According to the invention, the wire or wires can be in two or more Layers are wound, which are joined together by means of a binder.
According to the invention, wires of different colors can be useful .for the various layers are used in such a way that at least one of the mentioned Winding layers has a color different from the other layers. Around a possible great rigidity and resistance of the finished body in proportion to achieve weight, the cross-section of the wire or tape used for the Winding the body is used, according to the invention such a cross-sectional shape have that the smallest radius of inertia of the cross section is greater than or equal to o, 3 times the height of a perpendicular cross-section with the same width and area as the wire has, measured in the plane of a turn of the wound wire. if If this condition is met, the body receives the desired properties great resistance and low weight. According to the invention, the cross-sectional shape of the wire be wavy or M-shaped.
In another embodiment, where the same condition is met the cross section of the wire is tubular. In such an embodiment at least part of the pipe wall can have a variable thickness. To make one possible to achieve a large contact area between two contiguous turns of the body, can according to the invention the shape and the material of the wound wire in such a way be chosen so that the contact area of the adjacent turns is at least 2o% of the largest cross-section of a turn.
So z. B. according to the invention, the wire has such a cross-sectional shape have that two coiling windings either with flat surfaces or with curved surfaces rest against one another with essentially the same radius of curvature.
According to the invention, the increase in the contact area can thereby be achieved be that the wire is made of cellulose acetate and treated with a solvent, e.g. B. acetone is treated.
This treatment can be carried out according to the invention in that the finished Object is immersed in the solvent in question. This creates a Swelling of the material, causing two adjacent turns to flow together going on.

2b bezeichnet.i is a stencil that is conveniently made from a body of wood or any other suitable material, and which in the embodiment i is designed as a shell-shaped body of revolution, while the Template in the embodiment of FIG. 2 has the shape of a polyhedron. at the production of a screen from wire-shaped material, the template z. B. clamped in a lathe, and one end of a wire is on the surface attached to the template, whereupon the wire is attached to the template during its rotation is wound up in a manner known per se, as it is, for. B. from the winding of a Wire on a winding or a winding frame is known. The wire is in the Drawing denoted by 2, and as can be seen from Fig. 3, is by use a circular wire cross-section that the contact or connection points of the wire turns on a surface 3 outside the surface of the template i come lying down. In FIG. 3, the two winding layers are designated by 2a and 2b, respectively.
So zeigen. z. The embodiments illustrated in Figures 5-9 are through the application of an Ilolil wire with different cross-sectional shapes. So show. z. B.v'Fig. 5 to 7 the turn of a square hollow wire. whose Wall, as illustrated in Fig. 7, can be provided with internal ribs 3, whereby the aforementioned lenticular effect is achieved. By in Fig. 8 and .9 illustrated embodiment, the largest possible contact area between the adjacent turns of the hollow wire achieved, and by that shown in Fig. io M-shaped profile of the wire becomes a large effective contact area and at the same time achieved a substantial increase in the rigidity of the body produced.
The increase in the contact area can also be made with massive, in cross-section circular wires, such as B. illustrated in Fig. I, thereby achieved «-erden, that the wire that z. B. consists of cellulose acetate, with an appropriate solvent, z. B. acetone, is treated, whereby a partial solution of the material occurs. This favors the merging of the neighboring wires and thus one large contact area formed, which is at least 2o% of the cross section of the wire.
