The invention relates to an electric lamp for ovens, microwaves and the like, consisting of a cuboid-shaped housing made of sheet metal in one piece, with cover glass and lamp holder, the lamp holder with its connection part projecting at the end from a rectangular wall of the housing.

Such lights, which are punched and formed in one piece from a sheet metal blank, have proven themselves in practice. However, the disadvantage of using such lights for microwave devices is that gaps or slots are formed in the area where the lamp holder passes through, through which microwaves can escape.

Based on this prior art, the invention is based on the object of creating a lamp of the generic type which, while retaining the previous tools for manufacturing the lamp, makes it possible to prevent the passage of microwaves in the area of the passage of the lamp socket.

To solve this problem, the invention proposes that the connecting part is encapsulated by an additional cuboid-shaped housing part that can be connected to the housing and consists of two identical, oppositely oriented sheet metal stamping and bending parts, each part comprising two side walls and one half of the bottom wall.

It is not necessary to change the punching or bending tool used to produce conventional oven lights. A separate tool is simply used to produce another sheet metal punching and bending part, which forms one half of the capsule and into which a second identical part with the opposite orientation is inserted and connected, so that a closed capsule is created.

A preferred further development is seen in that each part comprises two L-shaped side walls, one of which has a narrow retaining strip running parallel to the bent wall part on its _free edge parallel to the bending edge and the other has a bent wall part at right angles to its longitudinal extension on the narrow side.

This design improves the stability of the additional housing part on the one hand and largely prevents the formation of gaps in the area of the joints of the two parts forming the additional housing part on the other. The electric lamp 1 for microwave devices consists essentially of a cuboid-shaped housing 2, made of sheet metal in one piece, which comprises the fastening means (flange edge and spring elements) as well as the lamp holder and a cover glass. Part 3 is pressed onto the housing 2, whereby the retaining tabs 17 attached to the top of the wall part 6 pass through corresponding openings in the housing 2 and are bent over to fix it in place. In the wall of the parts 4, holes 21 are also provided as ventilation openings, the diameter of which is adjusted so that the passage of microwaves is excluded.

The invention makes it possible to complete an electric oven lamp manufactured using conventional tools in such a way that it can be used in microwave ovens. The tool costs involved are relatively low and the punching waste generated during the manufacture of parts 4 is also insignificant.
