Description

The innovation relates to a cassette dictation and/or playback device according to the generic term of claim 1.

Dictation devices of this type are widely available in the form of mains-powered desktop devices as well as battery-operated handheld dxt recording devices.

Observations in the past have shown that although clerks’ desks are getting bigger, the available space is getting smaller and smaller, as

the desks are increasingly being loaded with files, paper, etc. Dictation machines are therefore increasingly being buried under files or placed on side tables, which is impractical because the clerk is often no longer able to use the dictation machine in his normal work position.

The new feature is intended to remedy this problem.

The aim of the innovation is therefore to improve the cassette dictation and/or playback device of the type mentioned above so that it can be accommodated in all standard desks in a space-saving manner, so that it does not affect the user's usual work surface and can still be operated from the user's normal working position.

This task is solved according to the innovation in a cassette dictation and/or playback device of the type mentioned at the beginning by the features specified in the characterizing part of claim 1. Advantageous design and further development of the innovation can be found in the subclaims.

In short, the device is designed according to the innovations in such a way that it can be inserted into the pencil tray drawer found on almost all standard desks, with accessories such as a microphone and/or earphones also being housed in the recess provided. These pencil tray drawers usually have a maximum height of 30 mm, usually their height is 20 mm. The device according to the invention is adapted to this height.

Since these drawers are usually located to the right (in some cases also to the left) of the actual work surface of the desk, the user can reach and operate the device even in his normal working position.

In the following, a cassette dictation and/or playback device according to the innovation is explained in more detail using an example. It shows:

The device has a cuboid-shaped, elongated and flat housing, which in the illustrated embodiment

as is usual with dictation machines - covered by a flap that opens upwards.

Between the cassette drive 7 and the front 3 of the housing 1, various operating elements 8 are arranged, for example an on/off switch, a switch for switching a loudspeaker on and off, a rotary potentiometer for controlling the volume, buttons for forward and rewind and, if necessary, a potentiometer for setting the tape speed.

Furthermore, a recess 9, which is open towards the top 2, is provided near the front 3. This recess is essentially cuboid-shaped and in the exemplary embodiment has a length of approx. 210 mm, a width of approx. 110 mm and a depth corresponding to the height of the device minus the wall thickness of a base wall. With a total height of the device of 15 mm, the depth of the recess 9 is therefore approximately 14 mm. In the exemplary embodiment in Fig. 1, the recess 9 is located to the left of the drive 7 and the operating elements 8. Of course, the arrangement can also be swapped.

The trough has vertical side walls, namely a right side wall 10 and a left side 11, a rear wall 12 and a front wall 13. The latter runs parallel to the front wall of the housing 1 at a short distance. The trough is large enough to accommodate a standard microphone and/or a

3Q can accommodate standard earphones and possibly also some empty cassettes. In one of the vertical walls of the recess 9, here in the right side wall 10, there are plug sockets 14 and/or 15 for the electrical connection of a plug of a microphone or a microphone system.

This means that the microphone or earphone can be permanently connected to the power supply without causing interference when the pencil tray drawer is pushed in. 5

Approximately in the middle between the front and back 3 and 4 of the device and to the side of the recess there is a loudspeaker 16, which is indicated by the usual loudspeaker slots.

The main benefit of the device after the innovation is that - as mentioned - it can be inserted into a pencil tray drawer of a desk. Accordingly, in addition to at least one side wall (here the side wall 6) and the back 4 of the device, there are also storage trays 17 and 18 for holding pencils etc.

The storage trays 17 and 18 mentioned can be designed as an integrated part of the housing and can be injection-molded in plastic together with the housing. It is also possible to provide the insert of pencil storage drawers, which is usually made of plastic, with a recess for receiving the device according to the innovation. In this case, the housing 1 of the device has a laterally protruding edge 19 on its top side (Fig. 2), which serves as a stop for inserting the device.

The power supply for the device, not shown in the drawing, runs through the drawer to the rear, i.e. opposite to the opening side, with a conventional mechanism attached to the end of it, which compensates for the length of the cable when it is pulled out.
