The invention relates to a container for the controllable application of chemical snail control agents.
There is currently no control container for chemical snail control agents. However, snail traps are known in various designs, such as containers that are filled with beer and sunk into the ground, which are also known as "beer traps". The inventions described as "device for keeping snails away from cultivated areas" (DE 35 33 909 A 1), "snail fence" (G 83 lö 295.0), "bed edging" (G 86 03 069.8) or "garden snail barrier" (G 86 25 593*2) are basically snail traps. By coming into contact with the fillers, such as table salt or creeping mucolytic agents, the animals are harmed or killed (admitted in G 83 18 295.0). Any user can use a "stronger" agent, e.g. the poison known and permitted as snail pellets, as a filler immediately or after finding the snails that have been harmed, died or perished by the supposedly only repellent agents. Snail pellets can also be spread freely.
Weitere Nachteile sindOne disadvantage of beer traps is that not only snails, but also numerous beneficial insects and small mammals, such as the useful shrew, get caught and die in them. A disadvantage of other snail traps is that through the more or less high entry gap, pets, animals living in the garden and the protected Roman snail can also reach the potentially strong poisonous substances and be injured or killed in the process. Other disadvantages are
«&igr; t &igr; &igr; r«&igr; t &igr;&igr; r
This is because the largely rigid roofing of the containers used to hold chemical agents, among other things, makes maintenance, i.e. emptying and refilling, difficult and visual inspection almost impossible. A disadvantage of freely spreading chemical snail control agents, such as snail pellets, is that all animals living in the garden have free access and can be harmed or killed by directly or indirectly ingesting the poison. A further disadvantage is that the poison can penetrate the soil and be ingested by humans via food plants.
The invention is based on the object of eliminating the above-mentioned disadvantages in snail control and snail defense and of creating a control container for chemical snail control agents that is safe in its mode of action and easy to maintain.
This aim is achieved by an elongated container having a raised rear wall, to the upper edge of which an equally long roof is attached by means of a hinge, which in the use position forms an entry gap with its front edge together with the upper edge of the front wall of the container and which in the maintenance position is folded back. A preferred embodiment is characterized in claims 2, 3, 5 and 8.
In the drawing, the subject matter of the invention is shown in three exemplary embodiments. Fig. 1-3 shows how it is fastened to an edging stone (21), the rear wall (2) running flush with the side of the edging stone facing the garden bed (ZZ) , Fig. 4 shows how it is suspended from an edging stone (21), the rear wall (2) lying against the side of the edging stone facing the garden bed (22), and Fig. 5 shows how it is fastened to an edging stone (21), the front wall (19) running flush with the side of the edging stone facing away from the garden bed (ZZ) .

An example of an embodiment is explained with reference to Figs. 1-3 of the drawing. The control container for chemical snail control agents shown is designed to hold snail pellets (23) and has a length of about one decimetre to several metres. Figs. 1 and 3 show the subject of the invention in the position of use. The hinged roof (5) is attached to a hinge (Cif) attached to the upper edge of the raised rear wall (13) and projects forwards (9) in the position of use. Screw nuts (11) are attached to the upper edge of the front wall (7) in such a way that the thread points diagonally upwards and into the interior of the control container. The slope of the attached screw nuts (11) is parallel to the slope of the roof (5) in the middle position of use, which is given when the height of the entry gap (8) is 1.25 cm. The roof (5) has bore holes (10) through which screws (12) are inserted and screwed into the attached screw nuts (11). The rotating screw nuts (13) are tightened against the underside of the roof so that an access gap (8) is present between the front edge of the roof (6) and the upper edge of the front wall (7) with a height of between 0.5 and 2 cm. To adjust the access gap (8), the bore holes (10) have a slightly larger diameter than the shaft of the screws. Fig. 2 shows the subject of the invention in the maintenance position, i.e. with the roof (5) folded back. The control container for chemical snail control agents can be opened by means of the screws protruding vertically downwards on the lower part of the rear wall (2).
The bands (20) can be anchored in the soil wherever there is a need for free spreading of slug pellets, for example. It can also be attached to a curbstone (21) using the bands mentioned and the hooks (10) which are screwed into the threaded pins (17) attached to the bottom and front wall (19) and projecting forwards. By lining up several control containers according to the invention, an almost complete garden or flowerbed border can be achieved. Suitable materials include iron or steel sheet, light metal,
.ie behandelt sind..ie are treated.
The multiple advantages of a control container for chemical snail control agents are that the poison known as slug pellets no longer needs to be freely scattered, but can be used in a strictly controlled manner. Animals other than the harmful slugs and small snails can no longer get to the poison. Even a related species of these pests, the protected Roman snail, can no longer get to the air, as it is locked out by its shell height of around 2.5 cm and the height of the entry gap of 2 cm. By setting the gap height to 0.5 cm, even Roman snails from the previous year's clutches, which are still small in spring, are kept away from the poison. The gradual expansion of the entry gap must take place as the snails grow larger during the spring and early summer. Another advantage of the subject matter of the invention is that the roof can be opened to remove the dead snails and to add new snail control agents.
