Beschreibung:Description:
The invention relates generically to a glass pane with a smooth front, a back roughened by etching and a coating applied to the roughened surface of the back, which forms a frame-like panel that leaves a viewing window free. In particular, the invention relates to a viewing glass pane for a stove front unit made of this viewing glass and a protective glass pane placed in front of the stove on the inside. The glass pane is usually a tempered glass pane.
Das alles gilt insbe-Recently, special requirements have been placed on glass panes of the described structure, namely in aesthetic terms. It is required that the coating, when viewed in incident and reflected light and through the glass pane, appears to the viewer as a matte metal surface that has been matted, for example, by so-called brushing. The coating should be very similar to the matte, rust-proof metal surface based on nickel and/or chromium and on stainless steel, also in terms of the so-called brilliance. Nickel and chromium refer to the usual nickel and chromium alloys. The specified requirement is made because the glass pane (e.g. in furniture, stoves and in other contexts) is combined with components that are made of so-called stainless steel or have a correspondingly treated, nickel-plated or chrome-plated surface. The requirement is made in aesthetic terms in order to avoid disturbing contrasts. All of this applies in particular to
This is especially true for stoves that have housing parts made of stainless steel that correspond to the stove front unit. This also applies to glass panes that are used in picture frames, particularly in picture frames made of a corresponding metal profile, or that are used as a picture cover, such as a so-called passepartout. A glass pane that meets all of these requirements is not yet known.
A glass pane with a different purpose is known (DE-GM 16 91 309), namely a wall panel made of glass that has a smooth front, a back roughened by etching and a coating applied to the roughened surface of the back. Here, the roughening is implemented in order to anchor a layer of paint or other opaque material applied to it in the roughening. When viewed in incident and reflected light, the roughness is perceived as more of a disturbance, but is not exploited to create a special effect.
The invention is based on the object of further developing a generic glass pane in such a way that the coating, when viewed in incident and reflected light, appears to the observer like a matte metal surface made of chrome, nickel or mixtures thereof, or of stainless steel.
Zur Lösung dieser Aufgabe lehrt die Erfindung, daß die Rückseite eine Rauhigkeit aufweist, die durch die im Anspruch 1 angegebenen Parameter bestimmt ist, und daß die Beschichtung aus einer geschlossenen, nichtrostenden Metallschicht aus einem Metall der Gruppe Chrom, Nickel oder Mischungen davon oder aus nichtrostendem StahlTo achieve this object, the invention teaches that the back side has a roughness which is determined by the parameters specified in claim 1, and that the coating consists of a closed, rust-proof metal layer made of a metal from the group chromium, nickel or mixtures thereof or of rust-proof steel

The layer thickness is selected so that the transmission is zero. In the embodiment for a stove front unit, the invention teaches that the surface of the back only has the specified roughness in the area of the frame-like panel and that the viewing window has a print layer made of enamel paint or the like. The print layer is preferably arranged on the back.
In the glass pane according to the invention, the closed, rust-proof metal layer can be applied in various ways. In general, such a metal layer is applied in a vacuum, for example by vapor deposition or by magnetron cathode sputtering. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the metal layer is made up of crystallites from cathode sputtering.
Das wird einerseits darauf zurückgeführt, daßThe advantages achieved can be seen first of all in the fact that the glass pane according to the invention achieves the specified aesthetic effect in the incident and reflected light. The effect can be varied within limits by varying the parameters. A further advantage arises for the embodiment in which the glass pane is intended for a stove attachment unit of the described design. In fact, the glass pane according to the invention shows a particularly pronounced infrared reflection when exposed to infrared rays from the interior of the stove, namely in the form of a diffuse reflection. This is attributed on the one hand to the fact that

die geschlossene, nichtrostende Metallschicht bei der angegebenen chtiC^0 <^*° PflnhioUoitcetrnUtiir rtor auf eroraiihtnn the closed, non-rusting metal layer at the specified chtiC^ 0 <^*° PflnhioUoitcetrnUtiir rtor on eroraiihtnn
The back of the glass pane is impressively reflected. The infrared reflection is particularly pronounced in the short-wave range when the metal layer is made up of crystallites from cathode sputtering but the advantages achieved by the invention also include the fact that the rust-proof metal layer is sufficient for all other stresses, particularly those of stove attachment units, whether they are thermal and/or corrosive stresses.
Es zeigen in schematischer DarstellungThe invention is explained in more detail below using a drawing that merely represents an exemplary embodiment. It shows a schematic representation

Fig. 3 einen gleichsam mikroskopisch betrachteten Ausschnitt aus dem Gegenstand nach Fig. t.Fig. 3 is a microscopic view of a section of the object shown in Fig. t.
DieseThe glass pane 1 shown in the figures has a smooth front side 2 and a back side 3 roughened by etching. A coating 4 is applied to the roughened surface of the back side 3, which forms a frame-like panel that leaves a viewing window 5 free. In particular, this may be the viewing glass pane for a stove front unit made of this same viewing glass pane and a protective glass pane placed in front of the stove inside. This
wurde im Ausführungsbeispiel nicht gezeichnet. Die Herdinnenseite würde sich in Fig. 1 zum Hintergrund hin anschließen.was not drawn in the example. The inside of the stove would be connected to the background in Fig. 1.
From a comparative examination of Fig. 2 and 3, it can be seen that the back 3 has a specially designed roughness 6, which is determined by the parameters of claim 1. The coating 4 forms a closed layer of a rust-proof metal, namely a metal from the group of chromium, nickel or mixtures thereof, or of rust-proof steel. The layer thickness is preferably around 40 pm. In Fig. 3, to which the scale shown belongs, which corresponds to a total length of one millimeter, the burr lengths can also be seen. The roughness depths R" are determined according to DIN 4768, Sheet 1. The maximum roughness depth in the example is 5.33 pm. In general, it should not be more than 25% above R~.
The surface of the back 3 is only provided with the specified roughness in the area of the frame-like cover. The * viewing window 5 has a print layer 7 made of enamel paint or the like. In the example, the print layer 7 is arranged on the inside of the stove. The metal layer of the coating 4 consists of crystallites from cathode sputtering, which cannot be seen for reasons of scale.
Attempts to achieve the same effect using other roughening methods and/or other coatings were unsuccessful and microscopically showed a rather uniform, hilly structure without any pronounced ridges.
