The previously known double or multiple coated arc welding electrodes exist from the core wire and two or more cylindrical sheaths, from fluxes, slag formers and protective gas generator η with binders, the components and their amounts in the individual cases are different. They are manufactured either by dipping or by pressing, wherein the manufacture of each casing requires at least one operation.
According to the invention, the variously composed mixtures of the above Substances applied to the core wire in segments of a single cylindrical sheath. Through this There is not only the possibility of applying all mixtures to the core wire in one operation to press open, but there are also considerable welding-technical advantages. One chooses for example, as one of the mixtures, one which is particularly good conductive for electrical current Composition, the power supply to the electrode can be continuously shifted because this conductive segment that establishes the electrical connection between power supply and core wire. The electrode can also be used for automatic welding machines, which is what the Since then the usual electrodes could only be reached by inserting metal wires into the casing. When welding steels of different composition, a sector-shaped For each type of steel, coated electrodes should primarily be supplied with the coating mixture that is most suitable for them. A major advantage of an electrode according to the invention is that the flux and slag formers in the more compact sector-shaped arrangement are considerably less Suffer evaporation and therefore get into the melt in a higher proportion than with shell
-The production of electrodes encased in the form of a sector is very simple. Depending on the number and position of the individual segments, dividing walls are placed in a press cylinder and the press piston is accordingly broken down into a number of segment-shaped partial pistons each sector of a press die, divided radially by partition walls, each consisting of a press cylinder ; -Fill with ίο undivided piston. The individual sectors of the sheath bind firmly to one another at their abutment surfaces, and resulted in a cylindrical sheath of the welding wire that met all requirements. -
