Description

Process for the recovery of low-percentage chrome ores The more and more tense growing situation in the area of chromium-containing scrap and high-percentage Ferrochromes imperatively requires the utilization of low-percentage Cr ores, whose conversion into Fe-Cr is otherwise only possible by using large amounts of energy or that contain so little chromium that they have not yet been processed. Such Ores can be found, for example, in Greece or wherever they have a high chromium content Ores are extracted, namely as undesirable companions. Succeeds according to the invention it is to utilize low-percentage chrome ores by using them as raw materials for production of steel pig iron are used in the blast furnace, whereupon this so won steel pig iron as a full or partial replacement of chromium steel scrap in the Siemens Martin furnace or is used in the electric furnace, namely as a chromium and carbon carrier for the Manufacture of chrome steels. In some cases it is even possible, otherwise Fe-Cr still required all or most of the steel when it was being made ready to replace, e.g. in the production of aluminum Cr steels in a hearth furnace. Another The advantage results from the shortening of the melting times compared to those for the use of scrap containing chromium. Besides the greater melting capacity will the durability of the furnace lining is also increased.

Nothing is changed in the essence of the invention if the Cr steel iron also with other alloy elements, such as B. Ni, Mo, Co. or the like. In the blast furnace will melt.
