The innovation concerns a brush for retouching and model making, in which a ferrule with a maximum inner diameter of 3.6 mm has a round bristle on the one hand and a handle with an essentially round cross-section on the other.

Such brushes have a fine bristle, which requires safe and careful handling of the handle. Handles are usually provided that match the thinness of the bristle and the associated ferrule, the cross-section of which changes over the length, is circular and quite small, and is only thick enough for good handling in thickened areas. Handling these handles is rotationally symmetrical, but is difficult due to the essentially small diameter.

One of the aims of the innovation is therefore to create a brush of the type mentioned at the beginning, whose design is essentially uniform over the circumference and whose handle nevertheless provides for simplified handling. The brush according to the innovation, in solving this task, is characterized by

characterized in that the cross-section of the handle remains uniform over its length, is pentagonal, hexagonal or heptagonal and has a diameter, measured on a flat side, of at least 6.5 mm.

This brush handle offers a combination of advantages. The cross-section, which remains the same along its length, guarantees the same handling conditions at every point, which includes not only a sufficiently thick handle, but in particular the ability to finely adjust the position of the handle in the hand due to the square shape. This is particularly important for a brush where the bristle tip usually has a predetermined orientation when the square cross-section is used on a brush handle.

It is particularly useful and advantageous if the cross-section of the handle is hexagonal and the diameter, measured on a flat side, is approximately 7 mm. In this case, the brush handle is adapted to the dimensions of a hexagonal pencil, which the people using the brush in question are usually used to handling.

The brush as shown in the drawing has a trim (1) with a round cross-section that ends in a fine tip (2) at the front. The trim (1) protrudes from the front ferrule end (3) of a ferrule (4), in which a tapered end piece (5) of a handle (6) with an otherwise constant hexagonal cross-section is inserted at the back. While the inner diameter of the front ferrule end (3) is 0.45 - 3.6 mm depending on the brush size, the diameter of the handle (6) for each brush size is 7 mm measured on a flat side (7) and 7.5 mm measured over an edge.
