Description

Process for removing sulphate from acidic phosphate liquors, sodium dihydrogen phosphate liquors, which, in addition to dihydrogen phosphates, may also contain free phosphoric acid without prior crystallization on ortho-, meta-, pyro- or polyphosphates to process. The starting products for the production of such alkalis are super or Triple superphosphates obtained by treating rock phosphates with sulfuric acid or Dorrphosphoric acid can be obtained. After conversion of these phosphates with sodium sulfate solution the raw liquors obtained by known methods of impurities such as z. B. alkaline earths, heavy metals, fluorine, etc., exempted. During these cleaning operations the sulphate, which interferes with low-water phosphates during later processing, not removed. In a process for removing sulfate from raw phosphoric acid the sulfate is removed by adding barium carbonate. This procedure is on the phosphate solutions prepared in the manner described above cannot be used, because the introduced barium carbonate is superficially with insoluble barium salts covered and so removes the underlying carbonate from further reaction.

It has now been found that the sulfate can be obtained from acidic phosphate solutions by adding such phosphoric acid barium phosphate solutions which are at least 1.5 Moles of P205 contain one mole of Ba0, can precipitate. The phosphoric acids to be used Barium phosphate solutions are obtained z. B. by adding appropriate amounts of barium carbonate to technical phosphoric acid of any origin. These solutions are calculated in Amounts added to the phosphate solutions, whereupon barium sulfate precipitates and, expediently after some standing, is separated. "The separation of the barium sulfate can be shared with other precipitates obtained in the course of cleaning be made, provided that the reagents to be added in each case are effective do not interfere with or upset one another.

The method according to the present invention can also be applied to acidic phosphate solutions which are obtained in a different way than by reacting superphosphates with sodium sulfate. EXAMPLE 100 parts by weight of a solution of sodium dihydrogen phosphate obtained by reacting superphosphate with sodium sulfate solution and subsequent filtration and containing 239 9/1 P206 in addition to 7.6 g / 1 SO were mixed with 137 parts by weight phosphoric acid barium phosphate solution with g / 1 P205 and 10 6 g (1 Ba 0 were added with stirring at about 60 °. After the solution had settled, the SO 2 content of the solution obtained had fallen from 7.6 to 0.2 g / s of S 02.
