The invention relates to a one-piece blank made of foldable material such as corrugated cardboard, paperboard or the like for a preferably cuboid-shaped packaging container, in particular packaging cardboard, with at least one presentation window for presenting a primary packaging item, in particular a bottle-shaped one, wherein the blank is essentially rectangular and comprises surface parts for forming a container base, two long side walls, two wide or front side walls and a container lid, which are delimited from one another by fold or folding lines and can be folded around these relative to one another, and wherein in at least one side wall surface part a lid part is provided which can be used as a container lid and which can be removed from the same to form the presentation window in this surface part.

The invention is therefore based on the object of creating a one-piece cut that saves material, ensures greater torsional rigidity and enables filling from either the top or bottom, i.e. from the lid or bottom side.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that the surface parts forming the longitudinal and broad side walls are cut in the manner of a folding box with the aid of

The arrangement of the surface parts forming the long and wide side walls in the manner of a folding box cut makes it possible for the corrugated cardboard manufacturer to prepare the cuts so that they can be delivered to the processor as a flat tube folded to half the cut surface and already fastened along a vertical edge, thus taking on an extremely space-saving transport form. This tube can be filled from above or below, depending on the packaging machine available, and results in a packaging container that is easy to close and has a high torsional rigidity due to the one-piece arrangement, apart from the connecting edge, along the remaining vertical edges and the undivided wall surfaces. Preferably, in order not to unnecessarily weaken the narrower wide or front side walls of a cuboid-shaped packaging container, the removable lid part should be provided in a surface part that forms a long side wall. If two lid parts are arranged, both are provided in the two long side walls.

According to an expedient embodiment of the invention, at least one removable lid part can be designed to extend over the entire length or width of the surface part comprising this lid part and in its width or longitudinal extension perpendicular thereto at least corresponding to the width of the respective adjacent surface parts. This results in a complete closure of the opening surface on the lid side of the container. It is also possible for both lid parts to be provided in this way, i.e. both extend essentially over the entire surface of the longitudinal side wall surface parts containing them.

According to another variant of the invention, at least one removable cover part can take up the entire length/width of the relevant surface part over only part of its length and extend in its perpendicular extension corresponding to the width of the adjacent surface part, while on the remaining part of its length it is tapered towards the base surface part. This means that there are webs on the side of the side wall surface part which increase the strength at the edge areas around the presentation area created by the formation of the cover part.

In order to achieve a high level of edge stability around the presentation window(s), an embodiment is also provided in which at least one removable cover part takes up only part of the length/width of the relevant surface part and extends essentially parallel to the vertical edges. The vertical edge webs that remain in place also provide increased security against unlawful removal of the primary packaging goods.

In order to achieve a high level of stability in the lid area, the lid parts can advantageously be folded around a lid bar arranged on the relevant side surface part, with the latter being linked to a bar parallel to the floor, against the other lid part and can be fastened to the latter, with the lid bar resting against the bar parallel to the floor. In this case, gluing or other fastening in a flat form is easy to achieve, and a two-layer, very highly resilient horizontal bar is created in the upper edge area of the presentation window.

In order to enable the buyer to handle the filled packaging container conveniently, according to an advantageous development of the invention, two or more lid parts can be provided, in each of which a handle opening is formed which is in line with the lid parts lying on top of one another. The handle opening can preferably be formed as a pair of handle openings with reinforcing flaps which can be folded inwards. This produces a handle with the aid of which the packaging box 5 can be lifted and transported with one hand and which has sufficient strength in the lid and handle area.

In order to ensure a sufficiently strong connection between the lid and the side walls, the lid part can be provided with fastening tabs that can be removed from the adjacent surface parts in the cut for fastening to the adjacent surface part in the upright state. This lid part, which carries the side fastening tabs, comes to lie on top of the other when two lid parts are arranged, thus forming a secure, firm closure. The weakening of the side wall parts caused by the removal of the side fastening tabs of the lid part can generally be accepted, because the tabs are relatively narrow and a rounded shape can also be chosen so that no unfavorable force flows arise. For the same purpose of securing the lid, it is also possible for the surface parts to be provided with foldable hinged lid fastening tabs along their lid-side horizontal supports. These cover fastening tabs are usually chosen to be relatively narrow so that they do not require any significant additional material expenditure, but on the other hand allow sufficient bonding or other fastening in the edge area.

For this purpose, it is particularly advantageous and possible without additional material loss for the lid fastening tabs to extend essentially over the entire surface part that supports them. However, if you want to save on cutting material in the width of the cut, especially when forming the aforementioned lid fastening tabs, the base surface parts can be designed as relatively narrow base tabs in such a way that when the container is in the upright position they only cover part of the base surface of the container. This creates an opening in the base, but the primary packaging item stands on the base tabs, especially when it is tightly wrapped.

The side walls hold the items securely enough to prevent them from falling out or being removed from below.

The overall advantages that can be achieved with the invention are therefore that a packaging container is obtained with a generally completely closed lid arrangement, which has a high torsional rigidity due to closed, i.e. undivided, front side walls and the stable lid construction. The arrangement according to the folding box principle results in two different loading options, from above or below, and the closed, load-bearing lid enables the arrangement of a central handle for one-handed carrying.

Various embodiments for a blank punched out of corrugated cardboard and provided with the necessary grooves, notches or other preparations for later erection are shown in particular in Figs. 1, 3 and 6, which show the blanks in the flat state as they come from the punch, while a further variant is shown in the erection sequence in Figs. 5A-F, without it appearing necessary to show this variant as a flat blank. These blanks are used to erect packaging containers or packaging boxes 10 in cuboid form to accommodate primary packaging goods, here in the form of six wine bottles 100 per packaging unit. The various embodiments of the blanks 11 have certain, essentially identical elements, which are indicated in Fig. 1, but whose more detailed designation and description can be omitted in the other illustrations to avoid repetition, especially since the illustration of the erection process in Figs. 2, 4, 5 and 7 provides the expert with sufficient clarity with all the essential details for the implementation of the invention. To form the blanks 11 in the form of a base 12, two long side walls 14, 15, two front or transverse side walls and a lid 28, corresponding surface parts are provided on the blank.

In the case of no provisions, the bottom surface parts 12a, 12b and 12b are located on the lower horizontal edges 16, which are located on the first side surface parts 14, 15, and the second, narrower side surface parts 30, 31. The upper horizontal edge of the first and second side surface parts 14, 15 and 30, 31, respectively, remains free in the embodiment shown in Fig. 1. The cover parts 28a and 28b are provided in the surfaces of the first side surface parts 14, 15 in such a way that they are hinged at their upper edge around a fold or bend line 13, while in the remaining area they are designed to be easily detachable from the surface parts by means of pre-punched areas 13a, so that after folding out they produce presentation windows 70 corresponding to their outlines in the side surface parts 14, 15 (see functional representations in Fig.

2, 4, 5 and 7). The lid parts 28a, b are connected to lid webs 40, which are also detachable in the first side surface parts 14, 15, namely separated laterally by pre-punched areas 13a, whereby these lid webs 40 are hinged to webs 39 parallel to the base of the first side surface parts 14, 15. The upper edge of these webs 39 parallel to the base is determined by the upper horizontal edge 16 of the blank 11. The height and width of the web 39 parallel to the base and the lid web 40 correspond to one another, so that, as can be seen from Fig. 2C-F, when the packaging box is unfolded or erected, the lid parts 28a, b can be removed from the first side surface parts 14, 15

folded out to form a presentation window 70, brought into contact with the cover web 40 against the base-parallel plug 39 (Fig. 2D) and then placed on top of one another (Fig. 2E) and fastened together to form the cover 28 (Fig. 2F).

An industrial edge is arranged along the free vertical edge 17 of the first side surface part 14 as a connecting tab 20, with which the connection to the opposite, outer second side surface part 31 in the row arrangement of the surface parts can be made. By gluing and appropriate folding, it is thus possible to produce a prefabricated blank 11a in the style of a folding box from the blank 11 on an appropriate connecting (gluing) device immediately after it leaves the punch, as shown in Fig. 2A (and also in principle in Fig. 4A, 5A and 7A). Such a prefabricated blank 11a has a tubular shape that is suitable for later filling and can be easily unfolded, and a particularly favorable transport volume, so that it can be delivered to the processor/filler in large quantities on pallets.

In order to enable the finished, filled packaging box 10 (Fig. 2F) to be carried without any problems, a handle arrangement with a support bar 60 (Fig. 2F) is provided in the lid 28. For this purpose, handle holes 62 are punched into the lid parts 28a, b, which are spaced apart from one another via a support bar element 61 in such a way that one can easily reach into the handle holes 62 with one hand. In the handle holes 62, on the side of the support bar element 61 and thus delimiting it via a fold line 13, there are folding tabs 63 which can be swung down when reaching into the handle and form additional reinforcing elements for the support bar. Lid parts 28a, b are arranged in such a way that, as can be seen from Fig. 2E and F, they coincide with one another and, after the lid parts are connected to one another, they form a firm, durable handle for carrying the filled packaging box 10 with one hand.

In the embodiment of Fig. 1 and 2, the lid parts are provided in such a way that a wider lid part 28a takes up the entire length of the long side wall 15 and corresponds in width to that of the second side surface parts 30, 31. This lid part 28a therefore covers the entire lid opening of the packaging box 10. In contrast, a slightly narrower lid part 28b is provided in the first side surface part 14. The lid web 40 supporting this lid part 28b also takes up the entire length of the side surface part 14; however, the lid part 28b tapers slightly from a wider hinge area on the lid web 40 in the direction of the base surface part 12a, so that laterally raised edge webs 72 are created which delimit the presentation window 70 in a trapezoidal shape with rounded corner areas and are delimited on the outside by the vertical edges 17. The wider cover part ?8a carries, protruding laterally beyond the vertical edges 17 of the first side surface part 15, connecting tabs 29 which, when cut flat, are located in the surfaces of the second side surface parts 30, 31. When the cut is unfolded and the cover parts are placed on top of one another in the manner shown in Fig. 2E, after which the narrower cover part 28b comes to lie under the wider cover part 28a, the connecting tabs 29 overlap the upper edge area of the two second side surface parts 30, 31 and can be connected to them, as can be seen from Fig. 2F.

The erection process is shown in detail in the functional sequence in Fig. 2A to F based on the pre-assembled

tioned blank 11a, which is folded up into a tube. The connection is preferably carried out on conventional gluing stations, i.e. by applying glue, although stapling using staples is of course also possible. After closing the base (Fig. 2B), the packaging box is filled with bottles 100, whereupon the webs 39 parallel to the base are covered with a bead of glue 80, the lid parts 28a, b are removed from their first side surface parts 15 and 14, respectively, and folded according to the pre-grooves. The lid webs 40 are then pressed against the webs 39 parallel to the base (Fig. 2D). The broad side walls 30, 31 and the supporting web area of the lid part 28b that is to be placed at the bottom are then also provided with glue beads 80 (Fig. 2E), after which the packaging box 10 can be completely closed by means of the connecting tabs 29 and by pressing the upper lid part 28 on, thus creating the connection in the supporting web 60. Of course, glue beads can also be provided in other areas, depending on how strong the adhesive connection needs to be.

To facilitate the folding processes, tool passage openings 90 are provided at suitable locations on foldable parts, in particular the cover parts 28a, b.

In the embodiment according to Fig. 3 and 4, there are differences from the example of Fig. 1 and 2 only insofar as along the upper horizontal edge 16 of the blank on the side surface parts 14, 15, 30, 31 there is a narrow connecting tab 33, hinged by a fold or bend line. The connecting tabs 33 serve, as can be seen from Fig. 4A to F, for an even better lid fastening, in that they are folded inwards and covered with glue, so that lid parts 28a, b in

their edge areas can be additionally glued.

Fig. 5A shows another variant in which both lid parts 28 extend over the entire width of the first side surface parts 14, 15, so that the lid opening of the packaging box is closed in one piece by both lid parts. However, the connecting tabs 29 are only located on the lid part that is at the top in the finished packaging box, in order to ensure its lateral connection. Gluing is carried out in the manner indicated (Fig. 5C and E).

Fig. 6 and 7 show a possible design with narrower lid surface parts 28c, which only take up part of the longitudinal dimension of the first side surface parts 14, 15, as well as shortened base surface parts 12c with the simultaneous arrangement of lid connecting tabs 33, as provided in the example in Fig. 3 and 4. The latter are somewhat wider here than in the example in Fig. 3, in order to ensure complete lid closure due to the narrower lid parts 28c. The narrower base surface parts 12c must of course be designed to be wide enough to provide sufficient container base area for the bottles to stand up safely without the risk of them falling out. By designing the cut as shown in Fig. 6, it is clear to what extent material can be saved for such packaging, while at the same time producing an extremely stable packaging box that can be carried with one hand and with excellent inspection options for the primary packaging goods 100 contained therein.

Between the embodiments shown in the drawings, there are a wide variety of possible combinations and variations as far as the design is concerned. These variations will be very

depending on the primary packaging material to be accommodated in the packaging box 10, ie what requirements are placed on the overall stability and torsional rigidity of the packaging container. In other words, it depends on the circumstances of use whether stub flaps can or must be used in the base and/or lid area, how wide the presentation window(s) and how strong other material overlaps must be in order to achieve a reasonable relationship between material expenditure and stability.

Claims (14)

Protection claims: 1. Blank according to one of claims 1 to 8, characterized in that two cover parts (28a, 28b, 28c) are provided, in each of which a handle opening (62) is formed which is in line when the cover parts are placed on top of one another. 10. Blank according to claim 4, characterized in that the cover part (28a) is provided with fastening tabs (29) which can be separated from the adjacent surface parts (30, 31) in the blank for fastening to the adjacent surface part in the erected state (10) (Fig. 1, 3). 12. Blank according to one of claims 1 to 11, characterized in that the surface parts (14, 15; 30, 31) are provided along their lid-side horizontal edges (29) with foldably hinged lid fastening tabs (33) (Fig. 3, 6). 13. Blank according to claim 12, characterized in that the cover fastening tabs (33) each extend substantially over the entire surface part (14, 15; 30, 31) supporting them. 14. Blank according to one of claims 1 to 13, characterized in that the base surface parts are designed as relatively narrow base tabs (12c) such that in the erected state (10) of the container they cover only a part of the base surface of the same (Fig. 6, 7B).
