Cover grate made of cast iron for sluices in cattle sheds

The invention relates to a cover grate according to the preamble of claim 1.

DE-AS 19 64 021 describes a cover grate for manure channels in cattle stalls, which consists of a rectangular support frame made of flat profiles, on which grate bars are attached, which have a channel-shaped profile with a flat upper back, which also serves as a step surface for the cattle. In order to make such a welded steel cover grate sufficiently comfortable for the animal, specially shaped rubber strips must be inserted, which increase the step surface and in particular provide the necessary thermal insulation. In addition, such welded steel frames are complex to manufacture.

From DE-GM 77 23 636 a cover grate for manure channels is known which has treads arranged approximately parallel to one another and connected to one another by means of T-shaped support bars, whereby these short support bars are only arranged between two adjacent tread bars, while these tread bars are not connected to the adjacent tread bars. The purpose of this measure in the cast iron, i.e. single-section cover grate is to extend the slots between adjacent tread bars. The two outer support bars are designed to be continuous, whereby their upper edges lie in the plane of the tread surface.

Particularly when using such cast iron cover grids in cattle stalls, there is a risk that the cattle will crush their teats on the support bars located between adjacent tread bars.

On the other hand, cover gratings made of cast iron have the fundamental advantage of being particularly easy to manufacture, poorer thermal conductivity and higher corrosion resistance than steel.

The invention is therefore based on the object of designing a cover grid of the generic type in such a way that when used in cattle stalls the risk of crushing the teats is excluded, while at the same time the cover grid should remain easy to manufacture.

This object is essentially achieved by the features of the characterizing part of claim 1. The recesses in the support bars

This ensures that no bruising of the teats can occur at these points.

If - as is the case in particular with the design for cattle metals - the cover gratings are relatively long in relation to the length of the support bars, additional support bars must also be provided between the outer support bars cast in one piece with the tread bars. According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, these are cast separately and subsequently mounted according to the teaching of claim 2. This makes it possible for these separate support bars to have deep recesses between the tread surfaces of the tread bars, without this leading to any particular casting problems when removing the cover grating from the mold after casting. The tread bars do not need to rest firmly on the separate support bars when the cover grating is not under any load. The distance should only be small enough that they rest on the separate support bars when an animal is loading them.

The design according to claim 3 provides a particularly simple design in terms of casting and assembly technology.

The required prestressing of the cover grating for holding the separate support rod is achieved by the measures according to claim 4.

The assembly of the separate support rods under prestress is particularly facilitated by the measures according to claim 5.

The cover grate shown in the drawing is used to cover well-known manure channels in cattle sheds. It has a relatively large number of tread bars 1 arranged next to one another and running parallel to one another, which are T-shaped and each have an upper tread surface 2. The fact that the tread surfaces 2 of the tread bars have different widths and that the distance between adjacent tread bars is also sometimes different is irrelevant in this context. The cross-section and arrangement of the tread bars 1 in relation to one another can be seen in particular in Fig. 2 on the right.

The tread bars 1 are connected to one another at their outer ends via an outer support bar 3. Tread bars 1 and support bars 3 are made in one piece from cast iron. The support bars 3 each have relatively deep recesses 4 between the tread surfaces 2 of adjacent tread bars 1, which extend downwards, for example, over approximately half the height of the T-shaped tread bars 1, so that the tread surfaces

between the tread bars, so that there are no webs in the area of tread surface 2.

On the two outer tread bars 1, opposite one another and inwardly projecting supports 5 are formed, which have an approximately horizontal support surface 6. These supports 5 are also cast in one piece with the cover grate. A rounded, rounded insertion surface extends from their inner edge, sloping outwards and downwards.

The insertion surface 7 extends - as can be seen in particular from Fig. 3 - at least over the depth of the support surface.

Each opposing pair of supports is assigned a separate support bar 8, which is shown in Fig. 3. It has a nose-shaped retaining projection 9 at its outer ends, which also has an approximately horizontal support surface Io, the dimensions of which are adapted to the support surface 6 of the support 5. From the outer edge of the support surface Io extends a rounded insertion surface 11, which slopes upwards and inwards and whose depth is also at least as great as the support surface Io.

For assembly, a retaining projection 9 of the separate support rod 8 is placed on the associated support 5. The insertion surface 11 of the other retaining projection 9 then rests on the insertion surface 7 of the other support 5. With a few hammer blows,

with corresponding elastic deformation of the two outer tread bars l, this holding projection 9 is brought into engagement with the support 5, as can be seen in particular from Fig. 3. The separate support bar 8 is also clamped in the longitudinal direction between the two outer tread bars 1 under corresponding prestress, with the support 5 in the area between its support surface 6 and the insertion surface 7 resting on the associated area of the support bar 8 and/or the holding projection 9 in the area between its support surface 10 and its insertion surface 11 resting on the corresponding area of the support 5. So that the separate support bar 8 is held prestressed between the two outer tread bars 1 in the manner described, these two outer tread bars - in the unstressed state - are bent inwards by a dimension a, which can be 2 to 3 mm. By appropriately oversizing the separate support rod, it is then achieved that - even taking into account the tolerances caused by the casting process - the outer tread bars run approximately parallel to each other and to the other tread bars 1 and, on the other hand, sufficiently strong bracing of the separate support rods 8 is ensured.

As can be seen from Fig. 3, the lower surfaces 12 of the tread bars 1 do not rest completely on the upper side 13 of the separate support bar 8 in the unloaded state. Rather, an air gap 14 of 1 to 2 mm is provided, which adequately compensates for casting tolerances. Under the weight of a cow, the tread bars 1 bend until they rest on the separate support bar 8. Side guides 15 for the tread bars 1 are also provided on the upper side of the separate support bar 8.

The separate support rod 8 is also made of cast iron.

As can be seen in particular from Fig. 3, the separate support bar 8 is located considerably below the treads 2 of the tread bars 1. It therefore also has recesses 16 extending downwards relative to the plane spanned by the tread Z.
