Description

Verfahren zur Herstellung von ummantelten Schweißelektroden Bei der Herstellung von ummantelten Schweißelektroden wurde es bisher als sehr nachteilig, insbesondere als zeitraubend empfunden, daß die Elektroden nach Verlassen der Presse zunächst etwa 24 Stunden an der Luft getrocknet werden mußten und erst danach in einem besonderen Trockenofen bei erhöhten Temperaturen fertig getrocknet werden konnten. Ein derartiger Trockenprozeß war deswegen erforderlich, da beim schnellen Trocknen der ummantelten Elektrode, unmittelbar nach Verlassen der Presse, ein Aufreißen der Ummantelung erfolgte. Dieser langwierige Trockenprozeß hatte es bisher unmöglich gemacht, eine Bandfertigung bei der Herstellung von ummantelten Schweißelektroden einzuführen. Gemäß der vorliegenden- Erfindung werden diese Nachteile ,dadurch beseitigt, daß die ummantelten Elektroden unmittelbar nach Verlassen der die Ummantelung herstellenden Presse mit einem Überzug aus Wasserglas versehen werden. Dies kann durch Tauchen, besonders vorteilhaft jedoch durch Spritzen mittels einer Ringstrahldüse unmittelbar nach dem Verlassen des Preßmundstückes erfolgen. Danach werden die Elektroden einem starken Trockenprozeß unterworfen, indem sie beispielsweise durch eine kurze Trockenkammer, die besonders stark erhitzt ist, durchlaufen. Die Beheizung der Trockenkammer kann je nach den Verhältnissen mit Gas, Dampf oder elektrisch erfolgen. Der erfindungsgemäße Überzug mit Wasserglas ermöglicht die sofortige schnelle Trocknung, ohne daß hierbei Risse an der Ummantelung der Elektroden auftreten.
