The present invention is based on an X-ray or a suitable cut-off leak detector, with means for converting the X-ray or GamtoaDtrahion into light and one formed from one or more semiconductor element (s) as an optical-electrical converter functioning semiconductor device is provided «

Ee is a semiconductor X-ray detector has become known which consists of a semiconductor diode and a luminescent layer. If the radiation detector is penetrated by X-rays, the X-ray radiation is converted into visible light by the semiconductor diode, which is then converted into an electrical signal by the semiconductor diode. Such a radiation detector, however, has a very low sensitivity.

To improve this sensitivity, it has become known through DB-OS Z6 22 655 , the radiation detector made of several semi-loiter elements. and several luminescent layers aUfeubawon "In fact, a crystalline semiconductor element and a luminescent layer are arranged alternately one behind the other. However, despite a much greater effort, such a radiation detector still has a relatively low sensitivity. Moreover, due to the crystalline semiconductor element, these radiation detectors have a very considerable thickness, which makes it necessary to insert the same between an object to be examined and an X-ray film located behind it in the direction of the radiation, and because the contours would be reproduced on the X-ray film.
The present invention is based on the object of providing a semiconductor radiation detector of the type mentioned at the beginning asu, the sensitivity of which, despite a very small thickness, is significantly increased compared to the above-mentioned prior art »
According to the invention, the object is achieved in such a radiation detector in that the means for converting the X-rays or gamma rays from one or more thin layers directly on the dectroluminescent layer (s) applied, a controlled electroluminescent photoconductive layer (s) causing the generation of charge carriers and optionally alternating are arranged with the film-like formed semiconductor elements.
Such a selection of photoconductive electroluminescent layers is made that in the whole detection is possible from the ultraviolet to the infrared spectral range «
