Circuit arrangement for cathode ray tubes with protective resistor
In cathode ray tubes that operate with high voltages, e.g. B. 5000 to 10000 volts,
are operated, measures must be taken to prevent a rollover in the
Tube destroy the tube from a sudden high current
avoid. Especially by filter capacitors, which are used to smooth a pulsating
Direct current is switched on in parallel with the high voltage source, occurs when it occurs
flash over a strong discharge and a particularly high current. It is known,
to switch on a protective resistor in the anode line of the cathode ray tube,
by which a current limitation is achieved in the event of a flashover.
However, the arrangement of such a protective resistor again has the disadvantage
that with higher beam currents a noticeable voltage drop and thus a blurring
of the cathode ray shown on the luminous screen occurs. The invention relates to
a circuit arrangement for cathode ray tubes with parallel to the high voltage source
filter capacitors lying between the filter capacitor and the cathode ray tube
Protective resistor and parallel between the protective resistor and the cathode ray tube
to the high voltage source lying capacitor and consists in that the resistance value
this capacitor at the frequency given by the ripple of the high voltage
equal to or greater than the resistance value of the protective resistor.
Fig. i dargestellten Schaltungsbeispiel wird der Kathodenstrahlröhre i von einer
The invention is explained in more detail by the drawing. The in
Fig. I shown circuit example is the cathode ray tube i of a
High voltage source connected to terminals a and 3 at the anode
q. and the cathode 5 is supplied with high voltage. As a filter capacitor for calming down
the ripple of the high voltage
the filter capacitor 6 is arranged.
The protective resistor is located between the filter capacitor and the cathode ray tube
7, by which a current limitation in your breakdown in the cathode ray tube
is achieved. Between the protective resistor and the cathode ray tube in parallel
The capacitor 8 is arranged to the high voltage source. The capacitor 8 is
now according to the invention to be dimensioned in such a way that its resistance value at the by
the ripple of the high voltage given frequency is equal to that of the protective state
or greater than this and when a flashover occurs in the cathode ray tube
the discharge of the capacitor does not endanger the tube. Of the
Capacitor 8 then acts in such a way that briefly through at higher beam currents
Energy delivery from the capacitor 8 is the voltage drop across the protective resistor
; is compensated. If necessary, a small one can be in series with the capacitor 8
Resistor 9 be arranged through which again in the event of a flashover in the tube
an impermissibly strong discharge of the capacitor S is avoided. on the other hand
However, the resistor 9 is so small that the voltage drop across itself at
larger occurring jet currents does not fall into the calibration. The Wehnelt cylinder
The control voltage is fed to the Braun tube in a known manner.
Is z. B. used a projection tube with iomA continuous current
the one. Anode voltage of 100,000 volts is to be applied, so a protective resistor
7 from approximately 300,000 ohms to 30,000 ohms are used when there is a voltage fluctuation
of about 3 0 o is allowed. The capacitor 8 according to the invention is at
such an arrangement on the order of about i ooo to i o ooo @ c, uF
to choose.
However, it does not have to be a capacitor directly between the protective resistor
and the cathode ray tube are turned on. Analogously, the capacitor can also
by a high voltage cable with an earthed sheath, which has an appropriate capacity
and leads from the protective resistor to the cathode ray tube.
i i mit ge-
erdetem leitendem Mantel 12 liegt.
In Fig.:! is shown according to the invention an arrangement ii in between the protective resistor 7 and the cathode ray tube a high voltage cable with i overall erdetem conductive shell 12 is located. The filter capacitor 6 is switched on again in parallel with the high-voltage source connected to the terminals a, 3. In this arrangement, too, despite the high protective resistance switched on; due to the capacitance of the high-voltage cable ii in the case of brief higher beam currents, there is a lack of focus. do not occur.
The invention applies to all cathode ray tubes, such as picture scanning tubes, projection tubes
etc., applicable on the receiving or transmitting side. which operated at high voltages
and where protection of the tube against flashovers must be provided.
