Feuchtigkeitsunempfindliche und korrosionsbeständige Baustoffe, seien es Kunst- oder Naturstoffe, besitzen im allgemeinen keine genügende Festigkeit gegenüber Schlag- und Biegungsbeanspruchungen, wie sie für Hohlkörper, insbesondere für Rohrleitungen, erforderlich sind, während andererseits die Stoffe, die wegen ihrer Festigkeit und ihrer Elastizität für Rohrleitungen in Frage kommen, nicht unempfindlich genug gegen chemische und physikalische Einflüsse sind oder als Sp,armetalle, wie z. B. Kupfer oder Nickel, nur beschränkt Verwendung finden können.
