Furfurol brauchbare Farbstoffe herzustellen.
Process for the preparation of polymethine dyes Dyes that
by condensation of furfu @ ols with secondary aromatic or secondary cyclic ones
Amines are formed are known per se. However, these dyes are completely unstable
and therefore practically unusable. The subject of the invention is an improvement
these dyes, making them durable and more accessible for technical recycling
will. It has thereby become possible from what has become easily accessible
Furfural to produce useful dyes. Namely, it was found that by
Acylation of the Q H group gives the desired shelf life in a simple manner
will. According to the present invention, hydroxyl compounds as they are in per se
known way by condensation of secondary aromatic and secondary cyclic
Amines with furfural or its higher vinylene homologues can be represented, the acylation
by means of carboxylic acid anhydrides or halides. The products serve
especially as intermediates for the production of cyanine dyes.
Aminen,
R2 _
R3 - Acyl,
X = Halogen oder ein beliebiger Säurerest,
N - o, z, 2 oder 3
bedeuten.
Als höhere Vinvlenhomologen kommen beispielsweise Furfurolacroleine
in Frage.
Polymethine dyes are made of the general formula: whereby
R1
N @ = residues of secondary aromatic or secondary cyclic amines,
R2 _
R3 - acyl,
X = halogen or any acid residue,
N - o, z, 2 or 3
mean.
Furfurolacroleins, for example, can be considered as higher vinyl homologues. In the acylation carried out after the condensation, both aliphatic and aromatic acid residues can be introduced, for example acetyl or benzoyl. Example i The pentamethine dye of the formula is produced by heating the decomposable pentamethine perchlorate, which forms pure red solutions, from furfural, z mole of mononieth_vlaiiilin and 1 mole of perchloric acid in about five times the amount of acetic anhydride for about 1 hour at about 50 ° C. The new dye can then be precipitated with ether and recrystallized from acetic anhydride. In comparison with the unstable red dye with a free hydroxyl group, the new product is quite stable; it has almost the same hue as the analogous pentamethine dye that is unsubstituted on the mesochrome. Accordingly, its absorption bands are almost exactly in the same place as in the latter.

Eiswasser gibt.
Chemie [21 88,
215) beschriebene violettblaue Kondensationsprodukt aus i Mol Furfuracrolein, 2
Mol Monomethvlanilin und i Mol H Cl in der zwanzigfachen Menge stark gekühlten Pyridins
gelöst und finit etwa 1 1101 Acetylchiorid acetvliert wird. Die Aufarbeitung erfolgt
wie bei Beispiel i. Das so erhaltene Farbsalz bildet violettrote, blau schimmernde
Nadeln, die sich in Alkohol blaurot auflösen. The preparation of the pentainethine dye can also be carried out in pvridine finite acetylchlori <1. So z. B. the chloride corresponding to your pentaniethin dye obtained from the red chloride of the llönoinetlivlanilülfurfurolfdye by dissolving the latter in about 20 parts of pyridine, cooling the solution to? O C and adding a little more than i llol acetyl chloride, if afterwards the reaction solution is saturated with common salt , ice water saturated with chlorine hydrogen. Example a The heptamethine dye of the formula is prepared by dissolving the violet-blue condensation product described by König f Journal f. Practical Chemistry [21 88, 215) of 1 mole of furfuracrolein, 2 moles of monomethvlaniline and 1 mole of HCl in twenty times the amount of strongly cooled pyridine and finite about 1 1101 acetyl chloride is acetated. The work-up is carried out as in Example i. The color salt obtained in this way forms violet-red, blue shimmering needles that dissolve blue-red in alcohol.

vgl. König, Ber. d. Deutschen Chem. Gesellschaft 58, 2564 ( 1 9 z 5)
mit z Mol Tetrahydrochinolin -i-- r Mol Leberchlorsäure in gekühlter Acetonlösung
The corresponding perchlorate can be obtained in a similar manner by allowing pvridine and acetic anhydride to act on the hN-diolated dye perchlorate. Example 13 The heptainethine dye of the probable formula: is produced by shaking the green-blue color chloride, which can be prepared from furfuracrolein, tetrahydroquinoline and hydrochloric acid according to the method of Koenig (Journal f. Prakt. Chemie [z] SS, 216), with fifteen times the amount of cooled pyriclin until it is completely dissolved Slow addition of r mole of benzoyl chloride closes the hydroxyl group. The dye can be isolated in the usual way by pouring into saturated sodium chloride solution acidified with HCl and recrystallizing from alcohol or acetone. It forms needles that shimmer blue. Example q. The nonamethine dye of the general formula: is produced by the condensation of r moles of streptodivinylenfurol [5 = (a-furyl) pentadienal, `- (t)] see König, Ber. d. German Society 58 Chem., 2564 (9: 1 z 5) is converted with z moles tetrahydroquinoline -i-- r mol liver chloric acid in cooled acetone solution is first obtained analog unacetylierxe, neingrüne dye by treatment with acetic anhydride in the pyridinic solution in the acetylated dye to give the latter cooled down very strongly during the operation with carbon dioxide snow and ether. From the blue-green solution it then precipitates on the addition of ether in the form of fine needles, which easily dissolve in alcohol with a malachite-green color.
