Anordnung an Ionenventilen zum Schutz gegen Rückzündungen In Ionenventilem,
Arrangement at ion valves for protection against re-ignition In ion valves,
d. H. , electrical apparatus with one-sided direction of flow of the current, in: which
ionized metal vapor paths a. Like. Serve as a head, is known to be one
of the most common sources of interference is the so-called flashback, which consists in the fact that
an anode acts as a cathode of the arc and a short circuit accordingly between
her and at least one other positive anode occurs towards her. For protection
against such re-ignition, it is inter alia. known, in the current paths between anodes
and to arrange the cathode grid in the blocking phase to -a negative voltage
of the same order of magnitude as that of the anode in question, possibly even
something more negative than this, so that the field is in the space between
Anode and protective grille does not allow the formation of a cathode spot on the anode.
It has been found, however, that the grid itself is the seat of its cathode spot
iverden, and if a flashback developed in this white, it works
they generally transfer to the anode. There are suggestions to prevent this inconvenience
known to either connect high resistances in series with the grids or the
To cover the grid with a heat-resistant insulating layer. None of these actions
but leads to the goal. For this protective effect it is necessary that every grille
absorbs a reverse current during the blocking phase, namely a sufficient amount of electrons
releases the positive space charge that is created by the attracted positive ions
wants to essentially neutralize, because this positive space charge seeks to
make the negatively charged grid ineffective. One in line with the grid
The resistance must not be so high that it absorbs the entire flow of electrons
a value that is insufficiently small for: the neutralization of the space charge.
If this entire electron flow is now concentrated on a single point,
then - with the usual design of the grilles - it will also be sufficiently strong,
about one
To form a cathode spot and thus to initiate a flashback,
and the series resistance can have this phenomenon due to its abovementioned bending limit
not prevent. If, on the other hand, the grids are covered with an insulating layer, then
the electron flow and thus the protective effect of the grid remains completely absent.
According to the present invention, the grids arranged in the current paths between the anodes and the cathode or other bodies that act electrically to protect the anodes consist of their. for the protection effective parts are at a distance from the anode surface and are under such voltage during the blocking phase that they have a glow discharge, on their entire effective surface of a conductive material with a specific resistance of at least 1 ohm per - abbreviated i ohm centimeter - so that the current strength or current density necessary for the formation of a cathode spot on the surface would correspond to a voltage drop in the resistance material which is equal to or higher than the highest actually occurring negative voltage, and a cathode spot can therefore never arise . For the electron current distributed over the entire surface of the grid, on the other hand, the total resistance becomes rather insignificant and can even be practically negligible with a suitable shape of the grid and a suitable choice of material.

In Abb. i bezeichnet i einen Kern aus gut leitendem Stoff, z. B. Metall,

In Fig. I i denotes a core made of a highly conductive material, e.g. B. metal,
