Description
Process for the production of highly viscous, resinous substances, in particular lacquer raw materials from pine and softwood tar. The present invention relates to the action of suitable substances, such as. B. heavy metal oxides or heavy metal hydroxides or mixtures of such substances, on pine and coniferous tar as well as on the components obtained by distillation or extraction - these t ees and the preservation - of the products obtained. - It has been found that: - MAN a completely homogeneous, tenacious and organic solvents in the usual union readily soluble resinous substance obtained when Kien -or- pine tar with suitable siccatives z. B. heavy metal oxides or hydroxides, rubbed at ordinary temperature. This has the surprising effect that the desiccation takes place without any supply of heat. The thus obtained resinous materials are sorted, after the reaction time and the nature of the tar and driers -at overall wöhnlicher temperature fixed or nearly fixed, and have a low melting point.
It was also found that the heavy metal hydroxides, z. B. Manganese hydroxide, siccative tars are lighter in color than those with the reaction products obtained from corresponding oxides; this is for the technical Usability is essential. The siccative pine and softwood tar also have the technically valuable property, applied in dissolved form, to dry evenly in the air within a short time and at the same time to form a very well-adhering coating on the base, the large flexible beard 'ZD keit, has a good gloss and an excellent anti-rust property. The pine and softwood tar as such, cannot dry out in the air.
-hydroxydes erreicht. The effects of heavy metal oxides or hydroxides on kien- and Coniferous tar made resinous substances, however, are not indefinitely durable, i.e. they lose their elasticity when stored for a long time and solubility, as long as the moderate amount strictly necessary for the reaction Excess heavy metal oxide or hydroxide still contained in the reaction product is. A permanent stability of these substances was, however, achieved by dissolving the siccative Tar in an organic solvent and then filtering the obtained Solution for the purpose of removing the unused heavy metal oxide or hydroxide achieved.
Furthermore, the surprising finding was made that from pine and coniferous wood tar in the distillation, which is expediently carried out under reduced pressure, a light yellow, viscous oil with a pleasant, aromatic odor is obtained, which in conjunction with one or more suitable substances, e.g. . B. siccatives, after a corresponding period of action at normal, moderately increased or decreased temperature - and advantageously under the influence of air - gradually thickened and finally turns into a tough or firm, pliable mass. The tar distillate is obtained, depending on the nature of the tar and the vacuum under which the distillation is carried out, in a yield of 500.0 or more of the amount of tar available. The physical properties of the distillate are approximately as follows, taking into account certain fluctuations: Specific weight at 2o'-. I, 04o to 1.050, boiling point at 17 to 18Inm: 85 to 220 '. The oil can be mixed with benzene, toluene and other aromatic hydrocarbons, as well as with alcohols, esters and heavy fuel. The distillate is only partially soluble in petroleum ether. On the other hand, it has a good dissolving power towards natural e AD t2 and synthetic resins, metal resinates and fatty oils.
Benzol, Benzin, Tetrachlorkohlenstoff, extrahiert.A pine and softwood tar distillate 0- C, I ichwertiles oil is obtained if you pine or softwood tar with a suitable C th solvent, such as. B. Trichlorethylene .. Benzene, gasoline, carbon tetrachloride, extracted.
It is already known to produce synthetic resin-like products from wood tar by treatment with heavy metal oxides. The resinous substances obtained in this process are dark brown to black in color, very brittle and not completely soluble in the usual organic solvents, properties which are great for the practical use of such synthetic resins, due to the high temperatures applied from 10 to 10 ° C Disadvantages i mean.
In the patent 282712 it is pointed out that a faster Drying of the wood tar can be achieved if known desiccants, e.g. B. lead oxides or oleic manganese can be added. This creates resin-like substances that however, also poorly soluble, dark brown in color and brittle in nature are. The latter property is conditioned by the progressive action of the applied Siccative that your tar is permanently incorporated.
According to the invention, a completely uniform, tough product that is easily soluble in the usual organic solvents is obtained, 2 if clinker and softwood tar is mixed with suitable desiccants, such as sword-iietal oxides or hydroxides, at normal temperature and, after mixing, the obtained resinous mass in a suitable solvent, e.g. B. Benzene, Z> 9 dissolves and the solution is separated from the siccative by filtration. After the solvent has been distilled off, a tough, resin-like product is obtained which is an excellent varnish agent.
Very light-colored reaction products are formed when they are exposed to heavy metal oxides and hydroxides obtained on the distillates or extracts of the coniferous tar.
Should special emphasis on high suppleness and easy solubility the resins to be produced from coniferous tar distillate or extract are placed, so the siccatives used for the reaction can also be used by dissolving the reaction products in organic solvents and filtering these solutions from the obtained Resin to be removed.
The resinous substances obtained are for use in varnishes, paints and pastes, plastics, artificial leather, putties, insulating materials, plastic masses, Suitable for floor and shoe care products.
i. Example 4009 Softwood tar are triturated at ordinary temperature with 50-pulverized ZD manganese dioxide with the highest possible peroxide content, the temperature rising noticeably depending on the size of the batch and the purity of the manganese dioxide. After standing for several hours, the mass has become completely solid and is now dissolved in 4509 benzene. The solution is filtered to remove the excess, undissolved heavy metal oxide and other impurities, whereupon the solvent is distilled off to the desired consistency of the reaction product. 2. Example 2oog pine tar intimately ground at room temperature with 309 of zinc oxide is to become the mass zähfest and no longer feels tacky, which depending on the nature of both ingredients after a few or several hours reaction time is, the case. The brown reaction product obtained is dissolved in benzene or other hydrocarbons and purified as in the first example.
3rd Example 4 og pine tar are rubbed intimately with 6 og manganese hydroxide for a few minutes. As soon as the mass has become uniform, the product is left to stand for several hours at room temperature; The completely solidified reaction product is then dissolved in solvent naphtha and it is purified as previously indicated.
