Beim Aufschliefsen des Opferstockes wird der Schlüssel durch die im Boden befindliche Oeffnung α gesteckt, so dafs die Spitze b des Schlüssels unter den Stift c greift. Bei dieser Bewegung heben sich die beiden Stifte// des Theiles d aus dem Theil g, so dafs dieser frei wird und einer kreisförmigen Bewegung nach rechts oder links folgen kann. Der Cylinder u dient dem Theile g als Führung. Die Drehbewegung des Theiles g wird dadurch veranlafst, dafs der Ansatz h des Schlüssels in die Aussparung i des Theiles g greift und nach rechts oder links gedreht wird. Bei dieser Drehung mufs der Daumen k, welcher mit dem Theil g verbunden ist,. die Bewegung mitmachen und schiebt hierbei den Riegel / nach rechts oder links. Im geschlossenen Zustande des Opferstockes bildet die Unterkante des Verschlufsriegels ρ mit dem Boden des Apparates eine gleiche gerade Linie. Wird der vorhin besprochene Theil des Schlosses in der beschriebenen Weise geöffnet, wobei der Riegel Z eine Bewegung nach rechts macht, so mufs der Theil q, welcher durch ein Gelenk ν mit dem Riegel Z verbunden ist, die Bewegung mitmachen, steht aber mit seinem unteren Ende vor dem Stift r, welcher diese Vorwärtsbewegung hemmt. Infolge dessen gleitet q mit seinem unteren Ende an r herunter, während das obere Ende aufwärts geht und den Verschlufsriegel ρ ο aus dem Boden des Apparates herauszieht; es entsteht hierdurch in letzterem eine Oeffnung, durch welche sich der Inhalt infolge der geneigten und nach unten gewölbten Eisenplatte t selbstthätig entleert. Das Schliefsen des Opferstockes geschieht vermittelst Drehung des Schlüssels nach links. Hierbei tritt die Spitze η des Riegels Z in Thätigkeit, indem dieselbe, in einem Schlitz des Riegels ρ laufend, infolge der Rückwärtsbewegung des Riegels Z mit ihrer unteren Fläche auf den Riegel ρ drückt und denselben in seine geschlossene Lage einschiebt; die Spitze hat gleichzeitig vereint mit dem Riegel ρ den Zweck, letzteren in seiner geschlossenen Lage festzustellen und vor Dieben zu schützen. Sobald die beiden Riegel Z und ρ ihre geschlossene Lage erreichen, greifen. die beiden Stifte ff des Theiles d infolge des Druckes der gespannten Spiralfeder wieder in den Theil g ein, wodurch der Opferstock wieder geschlossen ist.
