Bekanntlich
greifen säureabspaltende Ester Metallgefäße sehr stark an, was man darauf glaubt
Prevention of attack by solvents on metals The present
The invention relates to a method for preventing attack by organic solvents
on metals such as iron, zinc, tin, aluminum and the like, from which one on the one hand
produces or has the storage vessels used for such solvents
which one covers such storage and transport vessels from which one
but on the other hand also produces bronzes, which together with such solvents
be used. These are primarily solvents
which contain free acid or are able to split off such. Mentioned here as
Examples - the alkyl formates, amyl acetate, butyl glycolate, methyl oxypropionate
as well as other esters of organic, but also certain inorganic acids. As is well known
Acid-splitting esters attack metal vessels very strongly, which is believed to be on them
to be able to attribute that any acid formed in the stutus nascendi is particularly effective
is, but what can perhaps also be due to the fact that the relevant
Solvents are able to enter into compounds with metals, which can easily be formed
split and rebuild again. One therefore had to make certain safeguards
around when using such * solvents for nitro lacquers or for lacquers
Based on acetyl eUulose, resins, synthetic resins, etc., the influence of the acid, for example
to compensate for added metal bronzes.
also der Aufbewahrungs-
The cumbersome and expensive procedures used here
but could be used to protect the packaging,
so the storage
and transport containers for the solvents and the preparations made with them,
do not use, although the disadvantage of the attack by the U.sungsmit (el
of the type listed on the metal vessels in even more considerable part of the Maik.

Essig-, Propion- u.dgl. Monocarbonsäure. According to the present invention, there are aliphatic dicarboxylic acids in the solvents of the cited are, especially those rutoxy groups in the molecule. The following have proven to be particularly useful: citric acid, tartaric acid, malic acid, but also oxalic acid, as well as the. acidic esters of such acids. It must be regarded as peculiar that, for example, the addition of glycolic acid, lactic acid and the like cannot achieve this effect any more than by adding a fatty acid such as formic, acetic, propionic and the like monocarboxylic acid.
The following are mentioned as aliphatic tricarboxylic acids, where
first of all those without a free alcoholic hydroxyl group, then those with a free one
Hydroxyl groups of this kind are listed, Ti-icarba711vI acid (from beetroot),
Camphoronic acid (by oxidizing camphor), aco "iitic acid, oxytricarballyic acid
(Citric acid).
The essence of the present invention is to be explained below with the aid of a few examples, without, however, being restricted to what is disclosed here. To the solvent, such as the ethyl alphaoxypropionate, z. B. malic acid added to 0.50 / 0 to ensure an excellent protection against corrosion of the transport and storage container made of iron or aluminum, but even made of zinc or galvanized iron sheet.
Glycolic acid butyl ester can be obtained with o, g # / o tartaric acid or citric acid
preserve in the same way and prevent corrosion of the packaging from this solvent
stop behind. The same acid or also 0.50, 10 oxalic acid turned out to be
Addition to methyl alphaoxypropionate is extremely useful.
