Abstract

The two half-shell mouldings (6), in recycled plastic, hinged (5) along one edge, close against each other to form a hollow box, with two semi-cylindrical interior partitions (7) providing accommodation for a cable reel (1). Grooves (8) at each side of these partitions fit over the reel flanges (3) and a slot (9) in one partition allows cable to be fed out of the closed holder. The holder is lifted by retractable handles (11), combining as a single grip, in the free edges of the shells. The reel may be of sheet steel, plastic or stiffened cardboard. In a variant, a light plastic, or stiff cardboard container is reinforced by diagonally crossing rigid metal frames also supporting a reel spindle.
