Abstract

A method and apparatus for pouring molten metal in a crucible (2) over a pouring lip and into an opening (24) in a mold (22). The crucible (2) and the mold (22) are inside a chamber under vacuum, and the crucible (2) is supported on a holder (12) which is rotatable about first and second, spaced-apart, parallel, horizontal axes (18, 20). The second axis (20) is located so that tilting of the crucible (2) about it causes the molten metal to flow over the pouring lip and into the mold opening (24) at a predetermined rate.
