Device for generating a controlled, intermittent current
The invention relates to a device for generating, an intermittent
Current. Such a stream can be used for many purposes, in particular
for supplying signal lamps of all kinds, such as advertising lights, traffic lights
etc. n - According to the invention, the arrangement is made so that the consumer
in the anode circuit of a grid-controlled vapor or gas discharge path
Arc discharge lies, in whose grid circle a capacitor with a charging circuit
and a discharge circuit, which is a. igniting at a certain voltage value
Discharge path, preferably a glow lamp, contains, is switched. The discharge vessel
In contrast to high vacuum tubes, it can generate considerable currents with a very low voltage drop
lead to the tube. The periodic re-extinguishing of the arc discharge is
achieved thereby; that the; The supply voltage is an alternating voltage. capacitor
and glow tube are in the grid circle .of the discharge vessel to control it
practically no power is required. The control grid voltages are; very
small, the grid currents extremely small. The condenser circuit is as a result
conveniently and effortlessly to dimension for the desired frequency, and he can
nevertheless serve to switch disproportionately large consumer flows periodically,
sparkless, inertia, s and @ without special aids in the anode circuit.
An embodiment of the invention, which at the same time also has some
contains valuable features for its further expansion is described in the following
and is shown schematically in the drawing.
Dem Steuergitter des Gefäßes 12 ist ein Strombegrenzungswiderstand 14. vorgeschaltet;
21.In the figure, io means an alternating current network, to which an intermitterender
Current drawn. shall be. The consumer to be fed is denoted by i i
and for the sake of simplicity, shown as an ohmic resistance. The to
and intermittent current cutoff is a grid controlled device
Vapor or gas discharge vessel 12 with arc discharge, and the anode voltage
For this vessel, the alternating current source io is taken via a transformer 13.
A current limiting resistor 14 is connected upstream of the control grid of the vessel 12;
there is also a negative grid bias battery in the grid circle
16. The capacitor is designated by 18; its charging circuit contains a battery
17th
as well as two resistors 15 and 19, the latter of which is adjustable
is, his discharge revs -a likewise adjustable resistor 2o and a glow lamp

bestimmter Betrag, benspielsweise i Volt. Die Ladung des Kondensators 18 sei zunächst
Null; in seinem Aufladekreis , 5, 17, 19 möge kein Strom fließen.
For the mode of operation of the arrangement, it should be noted that the vessel 12 at; only allows current to pass through positive tension bellows; if the potential of its (control grid compared to the hot cathode is greater than a certain amount, for example i volts. The charge of the capacitor 18 is initially zero; no current may flow in its charging circuit, 5, 17, 19. In the vessel 12 then there is none Discharge takes place, since its grid voltage is negative .If, however, in the circuit shown .the case, the capacitor 18 is charged by the battery 17, a voltage drop forms across the resistor 15, which for the vessel 12 a positive grid voltage Y. As long as this voltage drop is one volt greater than the voltage of battery 16, a discharge therefore takes place in the vessel, and only ever during each positive anode voltage half-cycle If the voltage of the battery 17 approaches during the charging process, the voltage drop across the resistor 15 disappears, and the vessel 12 remains as soon as the control grid is opened r has a potential of less than i volts compared to the hot cathode, initially not conductive. However, when the voltage rise across the capacitor 18 occurs during the charging process, the ignition voltage of the glow lamp 2 i is exceeded and the capacitor discharges accordingly via the resistor 2o and the glow lamp 21. The capacitor discharge again results in a voltage reduction, see above. that 'the charging current increases again. As a result, the voltage drop across the resistor 15 increases again, so that the vessel 12 begins to conduct anew with every positive anode voltage half-wave. The duration of the charging as well as the discharging process obviously depends on the charging and discharging currents, which are determined by the size of the adjustable resistors i9 and 2o. By adjusting these resistors, the current duration and the current break of the intermittent current in consumer ii can accordingly be adjusted as desired.
