Arrangement for the enrichment of radioactive decay products in solid
fatty substances Soon after the discovery of radon, it was
that the paraffins and fatty bodies absorb radon many times more easily
than water. This observation is related to the accumulation of radon in food
and ointments have been evaluated, and methods are known according to which radioactive
Fats there. by producing a certain amount of radon in the
Fat is pressed in or gets into the fat by diffusion.
The disadvantage that this type of production of radon fats has compared to
the well-known continuous production of radon water is that of the fat
not activated by continuous absorption until the time of consumption
and radioactive decay occurs again. while in the exemplary case
In the production of radon water, the decaying radon is continuously supplied by the radium body
will. The production of radon fat is also of great importance for health
not everyone and not even the doctor according to the previous procedures
possible because they require complicated equipment.
When transferring the radome water method to solid, fatty
But body does not only achieve a great beneficial effect of emanation absorption
without any special pressure apparatus difficulties, but also through the fat
Occurring contamination of the envelope or lamella of the radium specimen.
If the preparation itself comes into contact with the fat, this creates the need to
remove the fat residues from the delicate, lamellar cover after a while,
thereby the risk of damaging the lamella and leaking the poisonous salt
into which fat is generated.
The purpose of the present invention is therefore not only to provide the advantages
the constant replenishment of radon or thoron by the parent substance for
to make the activation of the fats usable, but also a pollution at the same time
to avoid the coating of the preparation with the fat.
In the previously known processes for activating fats, this aim of the invention has not been achieved or has only been achieved by means of complicated apparatus and not. In a simple manner as in the production of radon water. So z. B. in a known ointment vessel, an ointment in a tube pressed past a body containing radite, so that the coating of the radium is constantly in direct contact with the fat and fat residues stick, the removal of which should be a matter of course for food, but not even for ointments is only necessary for hygienic, but also for physical reasons, because changes due to the action of the radium rays, e.g. Hardening of the fat occur, which increases the diffusion through the, lamellar closures make it difficult; F1
reduce the efficiency.
To the task of Ak
Fouration of the whole mass of the fat to he 'reach without the use of pumping devices or apparatus of a more complicated type and at the same time to prevent contamination of the preparation shell with fat, a sieve-like septum with pores is provided according to the invention, which is surrounded by water from both sides. The intermediate layer of water between fat and radium preparation absorbs the resulting emanation almost quantitatively, as is known from the effectiveness of radon water therapy. Compared to water, however, fat shows about five times the absorption capacity for radon. Therefore, with the possibility of any enlargement of the contact surface between fat and water and with a shallow depth of the fat through a thin water interlayer, the beneficial effect of the accumulation of the radon in the fat is practically not impaired and an accumulation is achieved which corresponds to the calculable production of the radium preparation except for a few Percent equals. The idea of the invention can be carried out in the most varied of ways. In principle, however, the diffusion path for "4th emanation from the. Preparation into the water
from the water to the fat kept short
'For example, this is the procedure
#aden radium bodies in one preferably
'Rylindügqhen shell with net-like walls can protrude into a recess in the fat, which is filled with water, whereby the radium container can be attached to the lid of the fat container. Another embodiment, which may be mentioned as an example among many possibilities, consists in a weighted float, which keeps the radium vessel completely under water.
