Anheben der Kolben b in den Röhrchen a und somit Freigeben der Oeffhungen i erfolgt. Das Innere des Balges steht also dann durch die Oeffhungen i der Abschlufswand e und durch die Durchbrechungen α¹ der Röhrchen a mit der Aufsenluft in Verbindung, so dafs Luft herausgedrückt bezw. eingesaugt werden kann. Die Röhrchen α sind am unteren Ende, mit welchem sie in dem Deckel e sitzen, mit einer durch einen Ring α² gebildeten, auf der oberen Seite flachen Verstärkung versehen, auf welche sich die untere Fläche des Kolbens bezw. der hier sitzende Filz auflegt. Durch das Anpressen des unter Federdruck (vom Tastenhebel aus) stehenden Kolbens gegen diese Verstärkung soll ein vollkommen dichter Abschlufs erzielt werden.
