Description
Switching fluid for electrical circuit breakers Oil as switching fluid for electrical circuit breakers probably has good insulating properties, but the Disadvantage that it is flammable. It has therefore been proposed to use one instead of oil Use a non-flammable liquid such as tricresyl phosphate. if the insulating properties of this liquid are also good, so it is disadvantageous that it does not have a very high evaporation temperature that is only useful permitted with the use of special aids.
The invention now relates to a switching fluid for electrical Circuit breaker, which has the advantages of the aforementioned liquid, at but their disadvantages are almost eliminated. According to the invention, there is the liquid from a mixture of oil and tricresyl phosphate, the diatomaceous earth in such a Ratio is added that a thin pulpy mass is formed. By using diatomaceous earth maintains the mixed state of oil and tricresyl phosphate, and the oil, thanks to its great adhesion, encloses the non-flammable, volatile one Tricresyl phosphate that has been absorbed by the diatomaceous earth and prevents it from happening Evaporation. Such a mass has a sufficient insulation value and is practically non-flammable: because of the fine distribution of the oil can well ignite a thin surface layer of the oil that prevents tricresyl phosphate however, another burn. A mixing ratio has proven to be useful of approximately equal parts of oil and tricresyl phosphate, the mixture of which is approximately 5% kieselguhr is added.
An additional binder, such as talc, for example, can also be used to maintain the mixed state of oil, tricresyl phosphate and kieselguhr.
