Centrifuge for the optical determination of particle sizes E, s is known that centrifuges can be used to determine the grain size curve of a suspended material by observing the change in concentration caused by the suspension of the suspended particles in the centrifuge. A major obstacle to measurements of this type is the convulsion currents that occur in the test liquid as a result of the uneven heating of the various parts of the container -Izeitsl) chälter to hereestellten in a metal. l # d. li. conducts heat well Zentriftigenläufer is. It has been proposed. avoid these Temperaturunterschiedc in the test fluid characterized in that lesser the rotor of the centrifuge with hydrogen of Atmospliärendruck and overall This gas combines thermal conductivity with a small coefficient of friction: this keeps the temperature differences occurring in the centrifuge rotor small. It is obvious that a device of this type requires considerable effort. In addition, it is, for example, axleless , press, -, asgetriebeiic-, ii centrifuges n ot applicable. It has now been found that the rotor of the centrifuge is expediently designed in the following way to prevent convections: The rotor is divided into an outer part and an inner part (insert part) - the latter being the liquid container, as has already been proposed. According to the invention, however, each of the two parts must be connected with good thermal conductivity - and both parts must be thermally insulated from one another. The outer part should as completely as possible and internally conduct the inner part as well as possible in terms of heat. enclose,. this in turn the test liquid as completely as possible and with as good a thermal conductivity as possible. It is thus achieved that on the outer part long as occurring in Temperaturuntcrschiedc reduced INfaße and spatially and temporally offset by the overall Isollerschicht and be compensated in the inner part by heat-Icitun- entirely, so that disturbing ZD ZD Konvektionsströniungen not occur.

C5 fortsetzt.Good thermal conduction "of the insert part is achieved by making it like a box from good heat-conducting em -1, material. To observe the concentration, insert parts B" and B. are provided with two systems of slots Ei and E., which in teinei ( certain enti'zrnund are arranged like a wreath from the axis of rotation and are made very narrow in a centrifuge for observing the concentration curve over time. As a result of the opacity of B and B. the level of the liquid , AEIE for the evaluation of Bedeutunist, can not be observed .. brings to an overflow device to this is performed, for example, so that some racliale WändeF up to a certain radius in -.. can extend the liquid container, which through radial bores G allow the excess liquid to drain off. These walls, which divide the liquid H into sectors, favor on the one hand, since they are made to conduct heat well, the temperature compensation On the other hand, flows of all kinds within the liquid are hindered purely mechanically. Corresponding to the design of the insert part described above, that of the rotor can also be made of metal for the purpose of better heat compensation, leaving as small as possible observation openings adapted to the back. It is also advantageous to make the insulating layer over the top and bottom of the runner. delinen, what z. B. has happened in the centrifuge rotor shown in that the insulating layer D continues in the two panes of glass C2 and C5 .
B. i mm).
An essential advantage of using the construction described here on centrifuges for measuring the concentration profile over time is that the depth of the liquid can be made very small (e.g. 1 mm) in the radial direction. This is namely a further effective Z> measure for preventing currents in the liquid. In this way, the inhonogeneity of the centrifugal field, which is characterized by the ratio of the observation half-meter (slot) / half-width of the liquid surface, can be made small despite the possible small dimensions of the centrifuge.
