Heat exchangers for high temperatures It has already been proposed that
as a heat transferring material for very high temperatures in circulation heating
or heating baths to use diphenyl ether; however, its general application is available
opposed to its high price. It has also been proposed to use naphthalene or diphenyl
to use for the specified purposes. When working with these fabrics you must
however, due to their relatively high melting point, all parts of the apparatus with additional heating
be provided to avoid blockages of the system during operation and specifically
to prevent during commissioning. This phenomenon is particularly disturbing
in circulation systems, because the pumps are also kept hot here
have to. In addition to the above, there are various other aromatic ones for this purpose
Compounds into consideration, but here too the high melting point makes work difficult.
It has now been found that one. ' avoid the difficulties mentioned
can, if one is used as a heat transfer medium that is suitable for temperatures up to about q.00 °,
.such mixtures of at least two aromatic, stable at the working temperature
Compounds used that melt @ below 60 ° and substances of the diphenyl type,
Contain diphenyl ethers or diphenyl methane. These substance mixtures are used in
liquid state used for heat transfer. They are particularly suitable for this
Dimensions, as the vapor pressure of their components at the temperatures in question
is relatively low, so that a pressure of the order of about
io atm. is not exceeded even at 400 '. Although this fact is known in itself
was, the suggestion is to consider such mixtures of substances of special composition as liquid
Manufacture and use of heat carriers for the purpose of heat transfer, new
and technically extremely valuable. So far has been of the high temperature resistance
such substances are only used for heat transfer in the vapor state.
For this purpose you have z. B., as already mentioned above, diphenyl ether already used,
: but its general use was opposed to its high price.
8o° schmelzen. Zu noch tieferen Schmelztemperaturen gelangt man bei
Verwendung :eines Mehrkomponentensystems. Z. B. genügt ein Zusatz von 5% Diphenyläther
zu dem genannten Gemisch aus Diphenyl und Naphthalin;
The particular advantage of the multicomponent mixture is based on the lower one
Melting point of such mixtures. For example, a mixture of 6o% melts
Diphenyl and 400/0 naphthalene already at 37 °, while the: individual components
melt at 71 ° or 8o °. One arrives at even lower melting temperatures
Use: a multi-component system. For example, an addition of 5% diphenyl ether is sufficient
to said mixture of diphenyl and naphthalene;
around the melting point
to 28 °, the melting point of pure diphenyl ether. Additions of-
even more Di =. ph enyl ether, e.g. B. from 2oa / o, press de 'melting point up to
20 ° down. At Ste, of naphthalene or diphenyl leave sch; z. B. also fluorene
(Sp. 116 '), Phenanthreii (Sp. 99 °), p-Diphenylbenzol (Sp. 212 °) or m-Diphenylb @ enzol
Use (Sp. 85 °), diphenylene oxide (Sp. 86 °) and other substances instead of diphenyl ether
Diphenylmethane (Sp. 26 °), as well. Mixtures of more than three components.
The mixtures behave in exactly the same way with regard to their temperature resistance
like the individual components and can be used with advantage wherever
a liquid heat transfer that is stable at high temperature at the same time
does not have a high vapor pressure at the working temperature is required. ,:To this
thermal advantages, there is a special advantage that substances such as; 'j # uiiphenyl,
Naphthalene, fluorene, phenanthrene are easily accessible from a technical point of view.
