Description
Processing of. ferrous bauxite The invention relates to on a process for processing ferrous bauxite, for the purpose of producing bauxite as. Raw material for the extraction of alumina, alumina compounds, aluminum and the like. to use, namely with reduction of the iron oxides contained in the bauxite.
It is well known that bauxite is a mixture in its mineralogical structure of alumina derivatives, hydrous iron oxides, silicic acid and titanic acid. As a result Due to the high iron content, many bauxites, especially the German bauxites, are considered to be The raw material for the alumina or aluminum industry cannot be used economically.
The mentioned industries succeed by the method according to the invention to supply a high-quality, low-iron bauxite, which is also extremely economical Way is won.
According to the invention, the new method is that the ferrous Bauxite initially mechanically from the impurities, especially from the sand, is released. The bauxite is then mixed with fuels in the appropriate grain sizes, preferably waste fuels, intimately mixed and placed in a heated rotary drum furnace brought. After driving out the wetness and the water from the water, there is a Reduction of iron oxides to sponge iron takes place. In the further course a part will be the sponge iron back to iron oxide by blowing air or oxidizing gases converted so that this is with the existing silica and the other Gaits slagged. The slag thus formed has the opportunity from the Sponge iron to flow out. The heat of formation of the slag provides sufficient heat for this Increase in temperature, at the same time the sponge iron is welded to form lobes. Of the Any fuel that is still present is sufficient to keep the iron oxide formed again to reduce. Surprisingly, however, this interaction of the process remains the existing clay as an indifferent substance is not involved in the reactions. Just a small part of it, namely the clay, which in itself is already a silicate is present and adheres to or in the sponge iron when it is formed, slag formation enters into with Fe0; in the interaction of the reactions will but this also in the immediately following reduction from this bond detached. This has little effect on the yield of usable clay. At the discharge end of the furnace you get an iron-rich shell that easily on iron or steel is to be further processed, and a raw material that is mainly consists of clay, in addition to small amounts of more or less iron-containing silicates. This mixture can easily be separated mechanically.
Bauxite bekannt,
welches darin besteht, daß die rohen eisenhaltigen
Bauxite in feststehenden Ofen, z.
In contrast, the method according to the invention is carried out in such a way that, in addition to the reduction, an oxidation is wanted in an intermediate stage of the process is switched on. This oxidation is an exothermic process that creates temperatures can be achieved, which leads to slagging of the gait and coagulation of the in Fine forums made possible metallic iron.
Simply by the fact that this procedure is satisfied with the heat of combustion that results from the compound of the reducing agent with your oxygen of the iron in the material, it follows that the achievable Temperatures of this process are not sufficient to cause slagging of the Gait, as is the case with the method according to the invention, to achieve.
This slag formation and the associated increase in temperature only allow the coagulation of the iron that is formed, which is then in the The end product can be separated more easily and completely from the bauxite.
The advantage of the new method is primarily that the extraction of the iron alone already covers the costs of the process and above In addition, it is an easily processable, valuable raw material that is low in iron and silica for the '\' processing returns.
