Schwefel

Sulfidschwefel....... - o,26
Sulfatschwefel....... o,Zo 0,02

Process for producing low-sulfur coke When coking hard coal in furnaces for coke and gas production, up to 50% of the sulfur contained in the coal escapes with the distillation gases. Experience has shown that about 90% of the remainder remains in the coke, the remainder can be found in the tar. The inorganic sulfur in coal is partially bound to carbon through coking, as the following comparative analyzes show, for example: sulfur

Sulphate sulfur ....... o, Zo 0.02

Since this organic sulfur arises at temperatures above 500 ° C, especially at 75o to goo ° C during coking and since the sulfur-carbon compound once formed is still stable even at high temperatures above 100 ° C, there is the task of Carry out coking in order to lower the sulfur content of the coke in such a way that the sulfur compounds (mostly H, S) escaping with the distillation gases do not come into contact with the glowing coke again. But in order to be able to remove the organic sulfur already present in the coal with the distillation gases, the coal charge is mixed in a known manner with suitable heavy metals of the sixth or eighth group of the periodic system alone or together with alkali or alkaline earth metals in aqueous solution, so that During coking, hydrogen sulfide is released after the following reactions: C S. + H20 = COS -E- .H2, 2COS = CS2 + C02, COS + H20 = C02 + H2S. The method of the invention now consists in that the following known measures are combined with one another. Heavy metal compounds belonging to the sixth or eighth group of the periodic system are fed into the furnace, either alone or together with metal compounds belonging to the first, second or third group of the periodic system, in aqueous solution in low concentration (below o, i ° 1o) Added, whereupon the charge is coked using the internal suction of the distillation products.

The well-known internal suction of the distillation gases is their essence
after that the normal coking after the
hot furnace walls
migrating distillation gases by applying negative pressure to the coal filling
produced hollow channels in the opposite direction gnaws the uncoked center of the

the usual high-temperature coke, but on the other hand are the distillation products
already immediately in the temperature range of their formation (below 5oo ° C) after the
cool middle of the charge gently discharged without the well-known pyrogenic decomposition.
This not only increases the yields of liquid hydrocarbons
but also the sulfur content of the coke as a result of preventing the above
marked formation of organic sulfur compounds.
If the measure of the internal suction is still marked with the one above
