Description
Plant for the production of low-oxygen steel It has long been known that one can determine the oxygen content of a steel produced on a basic fodder in addition to the deoxidizing effect of carbon and manganese it can be done in the pan into which the steel from the pear or stove is poured is, still high-silica store, especially flaky acidic character, in in solid or liquid state.
After Leopold P s z c z o 1 k a had this idea in 189o had pronounced, the procedure is more recently known as the Totschinsky procedure as well as perfected as the Perrin method. reappeared. Its practical and economic implementation, however, has stood until today as follows Obstacle in the way: Both with the pear and with the fixed Siemens-Martin furnace it is practically impossible to empty the steel into the on-the-fly Pan to hold back the basic fresh slag so completely that the effect the acidic slag is not disturbed or by an impermissible reduction in the degree of basicity of the basic residual slag even a return of phosphorus and sulfur to the Steel is effected. Also the most careful previous licking of the in the pear lying bath and then formed in a known manner with lime Dam at the pear muzzle is unable to make a satisfactory result in this direction To lead to success. So P 's z c z o 1 k a has already spoken of the fact that that Metal can be emptied while holding back the basic slag as much as possible must. Even if, as P s z c z o 1 k a also provides, the metal from the pear or from the oven not directly into the pouring ladle, but rather nor an intermediate container containing silicic acid, which passes through a fireproof plug in the ground can be closed, interposed, is at the risk that the effect of the acidic slag through the entry of basic slag is disturbed, basically nothing is changed. To a practically complete distance The basic slag has so far only been known to use the decanting process which you can transfer the batch from the first pan into a second pan or pan of the same size m filled a hearth furnace with acidic feed, where it was then treated with acidic slag can be. Such a way of working is, however, with such a large temperature loss connected that the transfer to a second pan is also practically impracticable is permitted, while the decanting in a hearth furnace, there the Temperaturv @ rhus ..W @ veder, to catch up, but with a time üiid'Kräftaüfwand that the process makes it uneconomical.
The invention consists in that for the aftertreatment of the liquid Steel with deoxidizing slags already proposed by P s z c z o 1 ka Intermediate container no longer between pear or oven and pouring ladle, but between The ladle and mold are switched on. The external arrangement thereby becomes fundamental the same as otherwise used to reduce the pressure of the ladle into the mold running beam is used. Well-known facilities of this type are intermediate hoppers, Tubs, pouring tables, channels, even small pans, where the steel is at the same time runs up and down again. However, the use of this arrangement is fundamentally new in the sense indicated above for slag deoxidation while avoiding the Access from annoying pear or Furnace slag. To maintain a closed The shape of the jet flowing out of the intermediate container must be carried out during the entire casting period @esne enough steel to be kept in the intermediate container so that too the slag placed in the intermediate container for deoxidation purposes does not flow off can. If you use an intermediate container with a stopper device, you have in particular with falling casting the advantage that you can move from a mold to next can prevent the slag from flowing out of the intermediate container. at The addition of deoxidizing slags is not a problem for liquid slags bound, but solid substances can also be added, if only their degree of fluidity at the temperature of the steel to be cast is so high that the desired Effect can occur.
The drawing shows an example of a device for implementation of the method according to the invention, namely in Fig. i the view of a row of molds with a movable intermediate container and in Fig. 2 a longitudinal section to Fig. i.
From the ladle receiving the melt from the furnace i with lower The steel flows from the uss into the intermediate container 2, where possible it is the above The acidic slag cover q to be kept constant in the steel bath 3. flows through. The steel then passes from the intermediate container 2 into the mold 5. The intermediate container 2, which is provided with a plug device, whereby it is possible to obtain a constant Maintaining steel bath 3 in the intermediate tank is via that in the casting pit erected molds 5 movable.
It is advisable to check the components forming the acidic slag beforehand to melt and to enter in a meltable state in the intermediate container, in order to avoid heat losses from the steel passing through the intermediate container.
