Description
.So far it has not been possible to use bed anaglyphs, i. H. Stereoscopic images in complementary colors, which, viewed through correspondingly complementary color filters, create a spatial impression * Really compensate for the so-called residual image, or at least to dampen in a satisfactory manner. .
The residual image arises from the fact that it has not yet succeeded, for two com- Plementary colors, which are -necessary to generate an anaglyph image, .sufficiently light To find filters that consist of both transmitted and reflected light rays of the same Filter out wavelengths.
For example, with the complementary color combination, red-green, which is most used for anaglyphs, it is possible to find a red color filter of suitable brightness for the red picture, through which the red picture becomes invisible, that is, with its red color points, the same brightness impression as the causes non-colored white image areas in the eye.
However, a corresponding, sufficiently bright gray filter cannot be produced for the complementary green image. If the green filter is brightly colored to a degree that is sufficient for spatial imaging, then when looking through this filter, the in
Bildstellen im Auge hervor, erscheinen also dunkler.
In the images produced by the green color, a residual image is still visible, ie the colored parts of the image produce a lower impression of brightness than the non-colored white image areas in the eye, i.e. they appear darker. The image is not visible in its strong, original tonal values, but still in weaker tonal values, i.e. as the so-called residual image. If Fig. 1 is a representation of the green image, the associated residual image would be indicated by Fig. 2, for example.
- But if you color the green color filter so strongly, or if you color it. the green image is so weak that no residual image remains visible, so when looking at the anaglyph image through the correspondingly complementary color filters, no more satisfactory spatial image impression can arise.
Similar proportions are found in the other practically usable conditions for anaglyphs Complementary color combinations.
This residual image now adversely affects, without the viewer being aware of the cause needs to be the spatial impression in more sensitive way.
Since it is now not possible, the residual image through appropriate color filter or color selection za to sufficiently attenuate or eliminate, this must be achieved by another method, which is the object of the present invention.
Dieses Verfahren arbeitet nun so, daß die Teile des Teilbildes, die keine ein Restbild ergebende Färbung enthalten, in einer anderenThis method now works in such a way that the parts of the partial image that are not a residual image resulting coloration contained in another
Farbe, ζ. Color, ζ. B. the · complementary color or another neutral color, so colored · 1 · that their-tint-through the relevant filter produces the same impression of brightness as the remaining image.
Those parts of the sub-image, resulting only a weaker residual image, must in accordance with weaker tint of the complementary color or a neutral colored t ίο be such that the partial image of the same through a filter color considered, no residual image. shows, but in its place an even tinting of the whole surface. how it has the tint of the darkest part of the residual image when the process is used correctly. This will always be able to remain so weak that it hardly appears, but in any case disturbs significantly less than the actual residual image. 2p The image applied next to the residual image (Fig. 3) must therefore be applied in a weak tint. It is also a. Negative image (Fig. 3) to the positive image resulting as a residual image (Fig. 2).
Viewed through the complementary filter, if the balance of the residual image increases uniform tint has been done by the complementary color, this not at all visible, so the compensation of the residual image is not noticeable at all. Will against it if the compensation is done in a neutral color before -._ ■, this compensation image (the '· Negative of the "residual image", viewed through the complementary filter, recognizable because but it is only a negative image in very faint tones, it appears with the Not viewed through the complementary filter as a special image next to the residual image resulting main images, * but calls t a general darkening of the brightest and highlight the lighter tones of the main image. - So while using the complementary color to compensate for the remaining image only when viewed through the filter of the remaining image color, i.e. only for the associated Eyes, a darkening of the. lightest tones occurs, occurs when an appropriate one is applied neutral color to compensate for the remaining image such a darkening also for the through the -filter of the complementary color seeing eyes, so for both eyes equally. Since the brightness impressions of both eyes for the spatial image are within fairly wide limits can be added to a common, approximately average brightness value with residual image compensation through the complementary color greater differences in brightness can be achieved than when compensating for a .neutral one Colour. The latter, however, results in a more even tinting of both partial image impressions. The compensation of the remaining image by applying a negative. Of the remaining image in weak tints of the complementary color or a neutral color has the disadvantage a certain awkwardness; because a special negative is necessary for this. This But compensation can be achieved through a simpler one Achieving means in a way that is not so perfect, but is quite sufficient in practice.
Die Helligkeitsunterschiede des Raumbildes werden hierbei allerdings verringert, aber auch das ist praktisch nicht annähernd so störend wie das ungemilderte Restbild,Observation teaches that the residual image, which when viewed through a same-colored Filter arises, in its light as well as' dark parts shows no big differences in the tonal values; call the bright parts of the picture a comparatively dark impression, while in relation to this the darker ones Parts hardly appear much darker. So if the remaining color of the image is even in a relatively thin tint is applied over the entire surface of the picture, when viewed through the filters of the same color in relation to this darker parts of the image can hardly be highlighted. The remaining image impression is very much weaker, even practically ineffective with a suitable selection of the brightness values. The differences in brightness of the spatial image are, however, reduced, but even that is practically not nearly as annoying as the unmitigated residual image,
Since there is always the choice of picture colors on the one hand and Filterfajben on the other in such a way that a relatively weak residual image arises, which is only on If the pure white background reaches a strength that interferes with the spatial image impression, it is sufficient even to a practically sufficient compensation of the residual image, including the image background to provide an even, light tint of any color. This even Ink can therefore be applied both from the remaining image color and from the complementary color as well as consist of a neutral color. However, the strength must be this Paint application must be weighed in a suitable manner.
.The described method is suitable for balancing the residual image both in the case of immediate Consideration of the material images produced in body colors as well as the indirect viewing in the photograph. It also shows that it is also used for moving cinematographic light images can be used with advantage. .
